Another Costly Bamford Penalty Miss

Stoke City 1 Leeds United 0

A disastrous night at the bet365 Stadium for Leeds where a Pascal Struijk own goal and Patrick Bamford's missed penalty condemned Farke's side to defeat. It was Bamford's third penalty miss in a row as he blazed this effort over the bar on 75 minutes. He was only on the field five minutes when he won the penalty himself and despite Summerville wanting to take it Bamford took responsibility. To compound matters five minutes later Struijk put through his own net following a corner and The Potter's held on for a vital win.

To say the travelling fans were not happy with Banmford is an understatement. Unfortunately the designated penalty taker Piroe was substituted ironically for Bamford as Farke said in his after match interview. Leeds were very poor in the first half and in truth could have been two down as they totally… Read more

Hats Off To Farke And Summerville

Norwich City 2 Leeds United 3

Leeds came back from a 2-0 deficit at half time to put in a storming second half and complete three straight league wins for the first time since May 2021. In fairness to Danial Farke bring on forward substitutes Gnonto and Bamford with twenty minutes remaining turned the game and he must be complimented for his brave decision. With only four minutes on the clock Irish International Shane Duffy powered home a header from Gomes Sara corner to give The Canaries a super start. Two minutes before HT Sara dribbled his way through a static Whites defence to smash a fine second into the top corner.

While Leeds had played reasonably well in the opening 45 minutes they found themselves with a mountain to climb and not many would have given them a prayer of getting a result at Carrow Road but us skeptics… Read more

Finally Back To Back Home League Wins

Leeds United 2 Bristol City 1

The Robins came to Elland Road having not won there since 1979 but given the home sides stop start season the fans were hoping for rather than expecting a win. Thankfully after a hard fought game Danial Farke's side got the victory and back to back league wins for the first time since November 2022.

Leeds took the lead on 37 minutes when Georginio Rutter passed the ball across the six-yard box while off balance to Dan James who slotted home. It was no more than the dominant home team deserved but once again couldn't hold on till half time. In the fourth minute of first half injury time Bristol's Kal Naismith headed in Taylor Gardner-Hickman's corner to silence the home crowd.

The home sided started the second half brightly and regained the lead on 53 minutes. New signing Glen Kamara played a pass… Read more

Saints Go Marching On

Southampton 3 Leeds United 1

Leeds went to St Mary's full of confidence on the back of a six game unbeaten run while The Saints had lost their previous four games. However after just two minutes they stormed into the lead when Adam Armstrong chipped over Meslier after a superb pass from Walker-Peters had split the Leeds rearguard. Things got a whole lot worse for Leeds on 31 minutes when Kamaldeen Sulemana cut in for the right touch line and passed to Will Smallbone who side footed home off the post.

Five minutes later the home crowd were ecstatic as The Saints made it 3-0. Adam Armstrong got his second goal as he twisted and turned to leave left back Sam Byram on his rear end and calmly shot into the far corner. With the game live on Sky Sports I'm sure every Leeds fan was wondering what on earth… Read more

Leeds Sting The Hornets

Leeds United 3 Watford 0

Leeds once again dominated this game but unlike previous fixtures they hit the net to give manager Daniel Farke's side their first home league win in nine attempts. The Hornets keeper Daniel Bachmann was rightly given the Man Of The Match accolade as he made a number of super saves throughout the 90 mins as Leeds gave one of their best performances of the season. In the first half Rutter had the ball in the net slotting home a pass from Piroe only to see the offside flag raised.

The home side finally broke the deadlock on 67 minutes much to the delight of the home supporters. And what a goal it was with Piroe
volleying home following a brilliant cross from by Dan James. Three minutes later Sam Byram headed home powerfully following a corner by Dan James and a minute from time on loan… Read more

Not A Bad Point Given The Circumstances

Hull City 0 Leeds United 0

In what was a frustrating game for Daniel Farke's side as they dominated the game from start to finish but lacked the cutting edge up front. To compound matters Wifried Gnonto went off injured after 21 minutes and looks set for a long stint on the sidelines. The Tigers goalkeeper Ryan Allsop made three excellent first-half saves from Georginio Rutter and two efforts from Crysencio Summerville.

The second half continued in the same vain with efforts from Dan James and Summerville twarted by Allsop. On the hour mark Leeds on loan centre-back from Spurs Joe Rodon was sent off for a second bookable offence and with it soared the confidence of the home side. In what can only be classed as one of the misses of the season to date Adama Traore should have won it for Hull with a minute left but his… Read more

Leeds Down The Lions In Their Own Den

Millwall 0 Leeds United 3

Leeds travelled to The Den more in hope than confidence having not won there since 2012 and also having a poor start to the season. However it turned out to be a champagne day for the Leeds supporters despite the vitriol abuse hurled at them by the Millwall fans throughout the game. Dutch strike Joel Piroe's double game Farke's boys a much needed win which rises them to 10th in the table.

The Dutch striker rounded off a brilliant team move in the 15th minute to open the scoring. He side footed past Lions keeper Bartosz Bialkowski after taking a superb pass from Rutter. The Millwall players claimed that Kevin Nisbet was fouled in the build-up as Rutter raced downfield before exchanging passes with Wilfried Gnonto and then passing to Piroe in the box. Leeds scored their second on 77 minutes when Piroe tapped in… Read more

Frustration In Front Of Goal Continues

Leeds United 0 Sheffield Wednesday 0

The Owls frustrated Leeds at Elland Road and gained their first Championship point of the season in front of a disappointed home crowd of 36,484. I'm so sick of saying that Leeds have all the possession in games ( in this case 67 per cent) but going on three seasons now we need a striker who can put the ball in the net. Bamford missed most of last season, is injured once again and Rutter is abject in front of goal at present'
Farke's side could only manage four shots on target from their 16 efforts and here in is the root cause of Leeds's problems.

This is what Fark said in his after match interview and it sums the game up perfectly : "We dominated the game and in the end it's just a draw. The overriding feeling is definitely disappointing. We expected an… Read more

Humiliation For Leeds in Carabao Cup

Salford City 1 Leeds United 1

League Two Salford City who are owned by ex Man United players Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Phil Neville, and Paul Scholes humiliated a strong Leeds team at their compact ground Moor Lane. The game was shown live on Sky Sports and as usual The Whites dominated possession but were toothless up front. Totally against the run of play The Ammies took a shock lead on 34 minutes when ex Leeds striker Matt Smith powered home his trade mark header from ten yards.

One would have thought that this would wake up Leeds but it took until the 76 minute when Pascal Struijk poked home an equaliser. Leeds also hit the bar twice through Crysencio Summerville and Sam Greenwood but failed to trouble ex Leeds goalkeeper Alex Cairns. We all know penalties are a lottery and when your most expensive player Rutter hits… Read more

Our First League Win In 13 Fixtures

Ipswich Town 3 Leeds United 4

What a roller coaster of a game. Leeds United register their first Championship win of the season after going a goal down after seven minutes and ended Ipswich Town's perfect start to the season. The Tractor Boys took an early lead when on loan Spurs player Joe Rodon put through his own goal but then three goals in the space of nine minutes from Leeds turned the game on its head. In a frantic nine minute spell from the 10th to the 19th minute Leeds scored three goals to quiten The Portman Road crowd.

Leeds most expensive ever player Georginio Rutter scored his first goal for the club on ten minutes to equalise and then want away star Wilfried Gnonto toe poked home in the 14th minute to put The Whites ahead. New signing Joel Piroe from Swansea City and on his debut extended… Read more

Ayling To The Rescue

Leeds United 1 West Bromwich Albion 1

It's been an extremely tough start to the season for Leeds given all the controversy with transfers and players refusing to play so it was an excellent point given we had gone behind once again. Ennislusc was represented at the game by our new Club President John Galvin along with his two sons Killian and Oisin while outgoing President Steve Underwood was also in attendance. WBA manager Carlos Corberan who worked alongside Marcelo Bielsa had to settle for a draw on his return to Elland Road.

Farke's men had the better of the first half and it need a fine save from Alex Palmer to keep out a Dan James effort. Then Jamie Shackleton's effort from just outside the box deflected off Cedric Kipre and hit the post with Palmer stranded. Once again Leeds are crying out for a striker and it's a… Read more

Imjury Time Blues For Leeds

Birmingham City 1 Leeds United 0

What a ridiculous start to the season it has been for Leeds and new manager Daniel Farke. He must be thinking what he let him self in for with 13 players exiting, 11 injured and two refusing to play. This does not included American International Tyler Adams who is also looking to leave the club following relegation from The Premiership. Given these drastic circumstances at the beginning of the season it doesn't bode well for what's yet to come.

If things aren't bad enough for Leeds we conceded an injury time penalty at St Andrews when a great point looked on the cards. The Blues won a penalty on the stroke of 90 minutes when Welsh International Daniel James was adjudged to have fouled Ethan Laird. It certainly looked a harsh call but with no VAR in The Championship substitute Jutkiewicz who had come… Read more

Another Rock And Roll Season Following Leeds

Leeds United 2 Cardiff City 2

Leeds kicked off their Championship season with a live game on Sky Sports on Sunday afternoon with optimism high despite losing some top class players due to contractual insertions in their contracts in the event of relegation. Ennislusc were represented with six of our club members ( Colm Ryan, Derek Byrnes , Pa Ryan and Johnny Markham all from Shannon along with father and son George and Darragh Casey ) making the trip to Elland Road. No doubt the lads went from depression after a dire first half to delirium with a 96 minute equaliser for the home side. But at this stage all us Leeds fans know every game is going to be a roller coaster as we don't do easy.

Despite having 72 percent possession, 25 shots ( only 6 on target), 10 corners ( Cardiff had none) we somehow managed to… Read more

Our Dear Friend John James Dooley

It was with deep shock and sadness that we heard on Friday last of the sudden passing of our dear friend and Ennis Leeds United Supporters Club colleague John Dooley. Every time one met John they were greeted with a broad smile, a big hello and for us Ennislusc members what's was happening with Leeds. He was a regular in Moroney's for the televised Leeds games often in the company of his great friend and Liverpool fan James Fenton. No matter how vociferous we would get roaring them on John would sit back and never get excited just smiling away. John came on club trips to Leeds with us with his first being the Colchester game on 1st February 2010. He was ecstatic to finally see Elland Road and often said to me it was one chalked off his life's wishes.

John was a true Dubliner who enjoyed the magnificent… Read more

Dire Performance Sums Up The Season

Leeds United 1 Tottenham Hotspur 4

The dream was all over after two minutes when Harry Kane scored and we were doomed to relegation. What followed was an abject performance which was hard to stomach for a full house Elland Road. The Whites' fans turned on both their team and the club's owners as the three-year top-flight stay came to a pitiful end. No shame ob Big Sam or Robbie Keane who were given a mountain to climb with only four games remaining and in fairness they tried manfully but I'm afraid the damage was long done before they arrived.

Needing to win to stand any chance of preserving their Premier League status, Leeds trailed inside the opening two minutes through Harry Kane's excellent finish. Two minutes after half time Pedro Porro doubled Spurs lead when he fired in from a tight angle. There was a glimmer of light on… Read more

It's In The Lap Of The Gods Now For Leeds

West Ham United 3 Leeds United 1

Big Sam believes clean sheets are the key to survival but one in this game proved beyond Leeds and not for the first time this season. Our defense has been abysmal all season while our attack is toothless and that sums up our problems.

Our Premier League status is hanging by a thread but now we need results to go our way as it's out of our hands. If Everton win next weekend then they will stay up and it doesn't matter what either Leicester or ourselves do in our respective games. We have to beat Spurs at Elland Road on Sunday and pray big time that Bournemouth will beat The Toffees at Goodison Park and The Foxes lose or draw at home to The Hammers. Now that's one tall order.

On seventeen minutes it had looked so promising for Leeds when Rodrigo… Read more

Survival Hopes Up In Smoke After Penalty Miss

Leeds United 2 Newcastle United 2

The Whites Premier League survival hopes won a late miracle as they came from behind to earn a super point against Newcastle United. This was a game with three penalties and a red card and one that many will feel Leeds threw away. Every point is precious and interim manager Sam Allardyce will feel this is a game where three points were lost when there for the taking. Leeds started off brightly and when Luke Ayling put the home side ahead on seven minutes it looked like a dream day was in store for the passionate fans.

However the game appeared to have turned when Patrick Bamford's penalty on the half-hour was saved by Newcastle keeper Nick Pope. He had missed his only previous penalty this season and everyone expected Rodrigo to take it but it seems Big Sam let it up to the… Read more

Time To Get Real,We Are Doing Down

Manchester City 2 Leeds United 1

The scoreline would suggest that Leeds gave it a good rattle but 81 percent possession for City tells it's own story. With Leeds sacking manager Javi Gracia and bringing in Sam Allardyce for the remaining four games in an effort to avoid relegation it was a big ask even for Big Sam to get a result at The Ethiad. However he steadied the ship changing goalkeepers and tightening up at the back where we had looked porous for the last five games. We now in all honesty need a miracle to stay up and with Newcastle, West Ham and Spurs our reaming three games it's difficult to see were the points will come from.

Two goals by Ilkay Gundogan in the 19th and 27th minute all but clinched the game for City who were toying with Leeds in the opening 45 minute. The prolific… Read more

Deserved Nothing With This Terrible Display

AFC Bournemouth 4 Leeds United 1

The Cherries now look like securing their Premier League status after a deserved win at the Vitality Stadium. It was a disastrous result for Leeds as this was a game they targeted to win and help secure their survival in the Premiership. But they can have no complaints as they were totally outplayed and looked a shadow of the team Bielsa built.

Jefferson Lerma scored twice on the 20th and 24th minute to put the home side in total control. His first effort was a superb first-time shot while his second was a gift from Leeds keeper Meslier. He flapped at a corner from the right and Lerma had a tap in to compound a terrible last few games for Meslier. Leeds pulled a goal back with a Patrick Bamford header on 32 minutes following a Wilfried Gnonto's cross to give them a chance… Read more
