Imjury Time Blues For Leeds

Birmingham City 1 Leeds United 0

What a ridiculous start to the season it has been for Leeds and new manager Daniel Farke. He must be thinking what he let him self in for with 13 players exiting, 11 injured and two refusing to play. This does not included American International Tyler Adams who is also looking to leave the club following relegation from The Premiership. Given these drastic circumstances at the beginning of the season it doesn't bode well for what's yet to come.

If things aren't bad enough for Leeds we conceded an injury time penalty at St Andrews when a great point looked on the cards. The Blues won a penalty on the stroke of 90 minutes when Welsh International Daniel James was adjudged to have fouled Ethan Laird. It certainly looked a harsh call but with no VAR in The Championship substitute Jutkiewicz who had come… Read more

Another Rock And Roll Season Following Leeds

Leeds United 2 Cardiff City 2

Leeds kicked off their Championship season with a live game on Sky Sports on Sunday afternoon with optimism high despite losing some top class players due to contractual insertions in their contracts in the event of relegation. Ennislusc were represented with six of our club members ( Colm Ryan, Derek Byrnes , Pa Ryan and Johnny Markham all from Shannon along with father and son George and Darragh Casey ) making the trip to Elland Road. No doubt the lads went from depression after a dire first half to delirium with a 96 minute equaliser for the home side. But at this stage all us Leeds fans know every game is going to be a roller coaster as we don't do easy.

Despite having 72 percent possession, 25 shots ( only 6 on target), 10 corners ( Cardiff had none) we somehow managed to… Read more

Our Dear Friend John James Dooley

It was with deep shock and sadness that we heard on Friday last of the sudden passing of our dear friend and Ennis Leeds United Supporters Club colleague John Dooley. Every time one met John they were greeted with a broad smile, a big hello and for us Ennislusc members what's was happening with Leeds. He was a regular in Moroney's for the televised Leeds games often in the company of his great friend and Liverpool fan James Fenton. No matter how vociferous we would get roaring them on John would sit back and never get excited just smiling away. John came on club trips to Leeds with us with his first being the Colchester game on 1st February 2010. He was ecstatic to finally see Elland Road and often said to me it was one chalked off his life's wishes.

John was a true Dubliner who enjoyed the magnificent… Read more

Dire Performance Sums Up The Season

Leeds United 1 Tottenham Hotspur 4

The dream was all over after two minutes when Harry Kane scored and we were doomed to relegation. What followed was an abject performance which was hard to stomach for a full house Elland Road. The Whites' fans turned on both their team and the club's owners as the three-year top-flight stay came to a pitiful end. No shame ob Big Sam or Robbie Keane who were given a mountain to climb with only four games remaining and in fairness they tried manfully but I'm afraid the damage was long done before they arrived.

Needing to win to stand any chance of preserving their Premier League status, Leeds trailed inside the opening two minutes through Harry Kane's excellent finish. Two minutes after half time Pedro Porro doubled Spurs lead when he fired in from a tight angle. There was a glimmer of light on… Read more

It's In The Lap Of The Gods Now For Leeds

West Ham United 3 Leeds United 1

Big Sam believes clean sheets are the key to survival but one in this game proved beyond Leeds and not for the first time this season. Our defense has been abysmal all season while our attack is toothless and that sums up our problems.

Our Premier League status is hanging by a thread but now we need results to go our way as it's out of our hands. If Everton win next weekend then they will stay up and it doesn't matter what either Leicester or ourselves do in our respective games. We have to beat Spurs at Elland Road on Sunday and pray big time that Bournemouth will beat The Toffees at Goodison Park and The Foxes lose or draw at home to The Hammers. Now that's one tall order.

On seventeen minutes it had looked so promising for Leeds when Rodrigo… Read more

Survival Hopes Up In Smoke After Penalty Miss

Leeds United 2 Newcastle United 2

The Whites Premier League survival hopes won a late miracle as they came from behind to earn a super point against Newcastle United. This was a game with three penalties and a red card and one that many will feel Leeds threw away. Every point is precious and interim manager Sam Allardyce will feel this is a game where three points were lost when there for the taking. Leeds started off brightly and when Luke Ayling put the home side ahead on seven minutes it looked like a dream day was in store for the passionate fans.

However the game appeared to have turned when Patrick Bamford's penalty on the half-hour was saved by Newcastle keeper Nick Pope. He had missed his only previous penalty this season and everyone expected Rodrigo to take it but it seems Big Sam let it up to the… Read more

Time To Get Real,We Are Doing Down

Manchester City 2 Leeds United 1

The scoreline would suggest that Leeds gave it a good rattle but 81 percent possession for City tells it's own story. With Leeds sacking manager Javi Gracia and bringing in Sam Allardyce for the remaining four games in an effort to avoid relegation it was a big ask even for Big Sam to get a result at The Ethiad. However he steadied the ship changing goalkeepers and tightening up at the back where we had looked porous for the last five games. We now in all honesty need a miracle to stay up and with Newcastle, West Ham and Spurs our reaming three games it's difficult to see were the points will come from.

Two goals by Ilkay Gundogan in the 19th and 27th minute all but clinched the game for City who were toying with Leeds in the opening 45 minute. The prolific… Read more

Deserved Nothing With This Terrible Display

AFC Bournemouth 4 Leeds United 1

The Cherries now look like securing their Premier League status after a deserved win at the Vitality Stadium. It was a disastrous result for Leeds as this was a game they targeted to win and help secure their survival in the Premiership. But they can have no complaints as they were totally outplayed and looked a shadow of the team Bielsa built.

Jefferson Lerma scored twice on the 20th and 24th minute to put the home side in total control. His first effort was a superb first-time shot while his second was a gift from Leeds keeper Meslier. He flapped at a corner from the right and Lerma had a tap in to compound a terrible last few games for Meslier. Leeds pulled a goal back with a Patrick Bamford header on 32 minutes following a Wilfried Gnonto's cross to give them a chance… Read more

Survival Hanging By A Thread

Leeds United 1 Leicester City 1

In what was billed as a must win game for Leeds to give us some breathing space in our quest to stay in The Premiership so it was brilliant to see Ennislusc well represented at Elland Road for the occasion. Unfortunately The Whites didn't manage to get the win but at least the group witnessed an exciting game and certainly the miss of the season from Patrick Bamford. After only ten minutes it looked like another disastrous result was on the cards but boy were we thankful for VAR's intervention. Youri Tieleman's rocket from the edge of the area was ruled out by VAR as Boubacary Soumare was ruled to be offside in the build-up.

On twenty minutes the stadium erupted when Leeds took the lead somewhat against the run of play. Colombian winger Luis Sinisterra headed in at the back post from Jack Harrison's brilliant… Read more

Meslier Howlers Gift The Cottagers

Fulham 2 Leeds United 1

Leeds United's hopes of avoiding relegation from the Premier League were dealt a massive blow as Javi Gracia's side sunk to a third successive defeat at Craven Cottage. It was beyond doubt a sickening display from the Leeds team who got what they deserved as too many of our over paid players failed to show any passion for the jersey. And thrown in two howlers by our keeper Meslier who gifted Fulham two goals and has been having a torrid time lately sums it up. He should have been dropped for this game as his confidence seems to be shattered but for some reason Garcia won't put in the more experienced Robles.

It was a dour first half but Leeds went in on level terms and one hoped they would be up for the second 45 minutes. On 58 minutes Illan Meslier flapped at Willian's… Read more

Absolutely Dire Display

Leeds United 1 Liverpool 6

Eleven goals conceded in two consecutive home games for the first time in our history certainly spells relegation bar some miracle and more especially give the lack luster way our players are performing.

It's hard to put into words what a shocking performance this was considering we were playing at Elland Road in front of a packed house and a game of such magnitude for our Premiership survival. Liverpool started brightly and dominated possession but for over a half hour Leeds dealt with the threat until in the 35th minute when The Pool went ahead controversially. England full back Trent Alexander-Arnold used an arm to control the ball as he passed a static Firpo but neither the referee or the VAR felt it worthy of penalising. He then exchange passes with Salah and crossed for ex Leeds transfer target Cody Gakpo to open the scoring. It… Read more

Shambolic

Leeds United 1 Crystal Palace 5

After completely dominating the first 45 minutes but only a goal up to show for it no one in the crowd of 36,427 could have envisaged the second half turn around from The Eagles. It was simply a complete and utter collapse from the home side which now leaves them two points outside the relegation zone. Roy Hodgson returned to his boyhood club after leaving them at the end of the 2020/21 season when the call then came after Patrick Vieira was sacked. His mandate was to save them from relegation and two games in with two wins it looks like it was a master stroke from the Palace top table. Unfortunately for Leeds it now looks like a dog fight to stay up and with Man City and Liverpool to play in the last eight league games one can't be too optimistic.

Leeds got off… Read more

Moving On Up Thank Goodness

Leeds United 2 Nottingham Forest 1

In what was the most important game of the season for Leeds they came out on top after going a goal down to earn a fantastic three points and climb out of the relegation places. In a tense six-pointer at Elland Road, Forest took the lead on 12 minutes through Orel Mangala. Luke Ayling must hold his hand up here as he gave away the penalty at The Emitates on Saturday and once again was at fault here in not closing down quick enough. Backed up by a crowd of 36,740 Leeds roared back into the game eight minutes later much to the relief of ther home supporters. Jack Harrison who has been on fire over the last four games following up to shoot home after ex Real Madrid keeper Keylor Navas could only parry Marc Roca's shot from outside the box.

This certainly lifted… Read more

Gunned Down At The Emirates

Arsenal 4 Leeds United 1

Leeds manager Javi Gracia left what one would call some certain first team members on the bench for the visit to top of the table Arsenal. It was obvious he'd an eye on what surely is a six point home game to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday evening next and didn't expect to get a result at The Emirates which it proved.
Leeds had created the better opportunities in the opening half hour of the game with Rasmus Kristensen, Crysencio Summerville and Jack Harrison all testing home keeper Aaron Ramsdale. However on 35 minutes Luke Ayling's mistimed challenge on Gabriel Jesus had referee Darren England pointing to the spot and the Brazilian dusted himself down and gave Meslier no chance.

Two minutes into the second half ex Leeds United loanee Ben White smashed home Gabriel Martinelli's low cross via the underside of the crossbar and the… Read more

Cracking Game And Superb Three Points

Wolverhampton Wanderers 2 Leeds United 4

In what can only be termed as an unbelievable game Leeds climbed out of the bottom three with a superb win at The Molineux Stadium. In an ironic twist of faith the scoreline was the same as last season on the same day the game was played, Leeds had three of the same scorers and Wolves had a man sent off as in the corresponding fixture. Leeds got off to a fantastic start after just six minutes when Jack Harrison side-footed Wilfried Gnonto's cross past Wolves keeper Jose Sa. Leeds doubled their advantage four minutes into the second half when an unmarked Luke Ayling who hasn't scored in The Premiership since the corresponding game last season beat Sa with a low header from two yards.

On 62 minutes Leeds made it 3-0 when substitute Rasmus Kristensen who had only been on the field for twenty… Read more

Lucky Point Keeps Us Afloat

Leeds United 2 Brighton & Hove Albion 2

Spurred on by a raucous home crowd Leeds twice came from behind to earn a valuable point in their quest for Premiership survival. Unfortunately with other results going against them The Whites are now sitting second from bottom but there is only five points separating seven teams above them so all to play for yet. On 33 minutes World Cup winner Alexis McAllister put The Seagulls in fronm after Japan International Kaoru Mitoma nodded Pascal Gross cross back across for him to head home at his ease.

Leeds were back level seven minutes later when Patrick Bamford's shot from 20 yards took a slight deflection off Adam Webster to dip over Jason Steele and in off the underside of the bar. It was against the run of play but certainly lifted the home supporters. Just on the stroke of half time McAllister… Read more

Relegation Is Now A Stark Reality

Chelsea 1 Leeds United 0

With Chelsea in a dismal run of form having only won two of their previous 15 games the Leeds faithful traveled to Stamford Bridge with some optimism. Unfortunately once again they put in a dismal performance and were dominated all over the pitch. The Blues made a superb start and could have been 3-0 up inside the first 30 minutes. German International Kai Havertz was one-on-one with Leeds keeper Illan Meslier, while Joao Felix smashed a shot against the crossbar and left back Ben Chilwell toe poked wide when it looked easier to score.

Once again Patrick Bamford was missing due to injury and record signing Georgino Rutter took his place but to little effect. While our defending may have improved we just can't find the net and one has to accept that relegation is now a stark reality. On 53 minutes Chelsea deservedly took… Read more

The Fight Begins To Stay In The Premiership

Leeds United 1 Southanpton 0

Leeds moved out of the Premier League relegation zone as Junior Firpo's second-half goal gave them a crucial 1-0 victory over bottom club The Saints in Javi Gracia's first game as manager. What a start to his tenure at Elland Road but in fairness it was a lucky result so let's no be kidding ourselves. We have a monumental task ahead of us but now with a new manager in situ we have a chance of survival.

The all important score came on 77 minutes when Junior Firpo the most maligned left back in The Premiership gave The Whites the lead. It was a scruffy goal aided by a deflection but what a valuable three points for Leeds. Leeds a first win in the league since 5th of November and takes them to 22 points, a point and a position above 18th-placed Everton in the… Read more
