Tomorrow nights fixture at home to Nottingham Forest will see Ennislusc well represented at the game. Although it is not a club trip there will be 11 members over for the game. The travelling party will include Kevin Green, Paul Nihill, Bryan Woods, Marty Brennan and his girlfriend Melissa O Connell who presented Marty with the trip as a Christmas gift. She certainly knows how to keep our Marty happy. Also on the trip are father and son John and Gary Brooks, Kevin and Noelette Barry and Johnny and Marian Moroney who is the Magpie in the party as she is a QPR fan.

Leeds new management under Gary McAllister began on a sour note after they slipped to a 2-0 defeat to in-form Tranmere at Elland Road. Despite having five new faces on show Leeds poor form continued and they slipped to their third defeat in four games. Worrying still is their failure to find the back of the net after such a prolific first half of the season. A terrific curling shot from the edge of the area from Jennison Myrie-Williams broke the deadlock in the second half before former Leeds man Ian Moore on his second debut for Tranmere sealed the win.

While McCallister was very disappointed with the result it was the performance that he harped on about. He felt that the team lacked confidence and that a lot of work was needed on the training ground this week to regain some much need confidence.… Read more

Steve Staunton has expressed his delight after teaming up with Gary McAllister again at Leeds United. McAllister who managed Staunton when he was in charge of Coventry City has brought him in as his assistant at Elland Road on a contract initially until the end of the season. Staunton training with Leedstoday and is looking forward to the opportunity with the League One promotion hopefuls.

Although Gary McAllister was not present at Roots Hall last night he'll now be well aware of the big task that lies ahead of him following this defeat. Confidence is at a low ebb and goals are hard to come by for a team that could'nt stop scoring before Christmas.

Lee Barnard's goal on his home debut just before half-time delighted the Roots Hall faithful, as he flicked a Steven Hammell free-kick home awarded for a foul conceded by Jermaine Beckford.In a game of few chances Leeds were restricted to long rane efforts from Kandol , Beckford and the returning Neil Kilkenny from suspension. However none troubled Darryl Flahavan in the Southend goal and this was a lifeless performance by a managerless Leeds X1.

Plans are well ahead for the second club trip of the season to the Brighton game on 29th March. Already 22 members have confirmed their places with another 10/15 yet to make up their minds. One piece of good news is that we'll now fly direct into Leeds / Bradford from Shannon on the 28th March and this is a welcome development for the club. The flight departs at 16.45 which is another plus and does away with our two hour trip from Liverpool to Leeds on our arrival. However we will still come back via Liverpool on Sunday as there is no direct flight back to Shannon on that day.

Gary McAllister has been named Leeds United's new manager following Dennis Wise's exit to Newcastle United. A firm favourite with the fans Gary has initially joined until the end of the season with promotion being his objective. The 43-year-old former club captain spent six years at Leeds making over 300 appearances before joining Coventry in 1996 and then going on to Liverpool. McAllister, who won 57 caps for Scotland, went on to manage The Sky Blues before stepping down due to family reasons.

Leeds have confirmed Dennis Wise is set to leave the club to join Newcastle after he prepares the team for their away fixture with Southend on Tuesday evening. It was reported over the weekend that Newcastle had targeted a move for Wise to be director of football at St Jameses Park. New Magpies boss Kevin Keegan is keen to have Wise in his new-look backroom team having worked with the player during his time as coach of England.

As so often has been the case this season Leeds have been the ones to score late goals. Eleven times they have score after the 85th minute but on this occassion the tables were turned. Indeed it was as ex United man Matthew Spring who was at the heart of everything good that Luton produced and it was fitting that he started the move that set up the equalizer for Sam Parker. In a local derby that us Leeds supporters are not yet accustomed to playing, our boys were well below form and were beaten by the better team on the day. Neil Sullivan who Dennis Wise deemed surplas to requirements at Elland Road came back to haunt Leeds making one superb save from a Beckford volley with five minutes remaining.

Wise had said in his press conference on Friday that Doncaster had never before played in front of 30,000 plus supporters and this could have a bearing on their performance. With new signings Peter Sweeney and Darren Kenton making their debuts for Leeds at the Alexandrea Stadium in front of the Sky cameras it was a relieved Dennis Wise that saw his men hold out for a hard fought victory. Jermaine Beckfords brilliant header on 36 minutes was enough to give Leeds their 18th win of the season that sees us sit a point behind second placed Nottingham Forest but having played two games more. New signing Neil Kilkenny who signed on Thursday from Birmingham City was the star of the show at Elland Road today and had a hand in two of the goals. Tore Andre Flo started his first game of the season up front with Paul Huntington starting at the back alongside Ben Parker in a new back four set up. Ian Westlake also started up front in place of Seb Carole.

This was a game Leeds dominated from start to finish in front of an attendance of 24,472. What a poor Christmas it has been for Dennis Wise and his boys, gaining only one point out of a possible nine and suffering their first home defeat of the season in the league. To compound matters midfielder Shaun Derry who is on loan to Crystal Palace until 18th January refused to cut short his loan period and return to the club. This left Wise fuming as both Alan Thompson and Kishishev who were both nursing injuries but had to line out vs Oldham as he was short of cover in the midfield area. It remains to be seen what action the club will take as Derry still has 18 months left on his contract at present and Leeds are also paying part of his wages while he plays for Palace.

This was the first meeting between the sides since 1984 and Leeds marked to occassion by making a presentation to Mrs Glenda Charles wife of the late great John Charles before the game. Oh how Leeds wished they had a man of his stature and class in their ranks at this present time. It was yet another full house at the Liberty Stadium for the visit of Leeds and Swansea showed on 9 mins why they are top of the league when Andy Robinson converted a free from the edge of the box.

Jermaine Beckford struck an injury-time equaliser as Leeds claimed a late 1-1 draw at Hartlepool. The home side dominated the opening exchanges at Victoria Park and took a deserved lead in the 21st minute. Former Whites full-back Robbie Elliott's free-kick was planted home at the far post by defender Michael Nelson.

The home side could have put the game beyond doubt early in the second half when Ian Moore another ex Leeds player was clean through but Kasper Ankergren made a fine save. The late-goal specialists then lived up to their name when Beckford tucked home past Jan Budtz for a share of the spoils and put Leeds top of the table even if for only a few hours.

Leeds completed the double over Rovers this season courtesy of a 84 min og from Steve Elliott and moved to third in the table despite not being at their best. Wise made three changes from the Walsall game with Alan Thompson, Tresor Kandol and Jonny Hewson coming in for the injured Jonathan Douglas with Leon Constantine and Radostin Kishishev dropping to the bench.

In a game of few chances the goal came as so often is the case this season with Leeds in the closing minutes. A cross from Alan Thompson was flicked on by Seb Carole and with Jonny Hewson ready to pounce the ball took a deflection off defender Elliott and end up in the net much to the relief of the home crowd in an attendance of 27,863.

For the fifth time this season Leeds left it until injury time to conjure up a goal. On this occassion it came in the 92 minute from a Alan Thompson free kick although Ian Westlake is claiming that he got the final touch. Not that this will worry Denis Wise as his side battled all day against a resolute Walsall team who indeed will consider themselves unlucky not to come away with all three points. Indeed Tommy Mooney the ex Birmingham City striker had an effort ruled out for offside in the first half but he made amends in the 75 min following a goal mouth scramble after Walsall had been awarded a corner.

In front of their biggest crowd of the season and the biggest in the Division 1 since 1979, Leeds recorded an emphatic victory over local rivals The Trotters from Huddesfield.Two wins in five days and no goals conceded is a great start to the December programme of games for Dennis Wises and the boys.

Jonathon Douglas opened the scoring for Leeds in the 24th minute and Jermaine Beckford then celebrated his birthday in style with two goals, netting after 49 and 69 minutes.
