Back In Play Offs

Leyton Orient 0 Leeds United 2

Another clean sheet and a very valueable three points which puts us back in sixth position with a game in hand on Tranmere who lost to Walsall. That two great wins in five days will give the squad great confidence in their push for the playoffs.

Bradley Johnson put Leeds ahead after 16 minutes from a free kick before top-scorer Jermaine Beckford (50) wrapped up the win for Gary McAllister's side. Lets hope the march to Wembley continues.

Just What The Doctor Ordered

Doncaster Rovers 0 Leeds United 1

After a dismal draw on Saturday Gary McAllister was forced to make three changes through injury with Rui Marques, David Prutton, and Darren Kenton out and Frazir Richardson, Paul Huntington and Jonathan Douglas coming in as replacements.
Leeds earned a valuable three points in their promotion bid thanks to left back Alan Sheehan's first goal for the club. Sheehan, who is on loan from Leicester, scored the winner against the run of play in the 20th minute with a tremendous free-kick from the left, bending it past the keeper into the far corner. However his night was somewhat soured as he received his 10th booking of the season and now faces an automatic two match ban.

Soon afterwards Leeds keeper Casper Ankergren who is also facing a FA investigation following comments made after the Swindon game had to make a fantastic stop to deny Brian Stock… Read more

Terrible Pitch, Woeful Result- Super Weekend

Leeds United 0 Brighton and Hove Albion 0

Our second trip of the season produced some surprises for us not least the super Marriott Hotel which we stayed in for the first time. As one knows we all love the Queens Hotel in Leeds but now even it's most avid supporter among us Noelette Barry had to conceded that our new location will take some beating. For an all inclusive price of £84 each we had luxurious beds, gym , swimming pool and a breakfast fit for a king or indeed a queen. Also the staff were very courteous and the bar and food served there were top class.

The less said about the match the better ,suffice to say the pitch was a disgrace following the playing of the rugby league World Final there some weeks back and if we were there yet we would'nt score. Highlight of the match… Read more

Second Club Trip Of Season

On Friday evening 30 supporters from the club will depart Shannon and land in Leeds / Bradford airport for the first time ever from our Clare airport.Prior to this we had to depart to Liverpool, Manchester or East Midlands or indeed when we did fly into Leeds / Bradford it was when we departed from Dublin so this will be a nice change for all concerned. Also we are flying at 4.45pm which gives everyone time to ready themselves and the only downside to the trip is we will lose an hour when the clocks go forward on Saturday night. Unfortunately as we are flying home from Liverpool and leaving from the hotel at 8.30am on Sunday morning one could be short on sleep but no matter we'll enjoy the trip.

The game on Saturday vs Brighton is a potential season breaker as they currently are two points ahead of us… Read more

Disaster In Injury Time

Port Vale 3 Leeds United 3

Having been two goals to the good at half time and despite Port Vale drawing level in a five minute spell in the second half Leeds scored a third on 86 mins from loan striker Dougie Freedman but it was not enough to gain all three points. The unthinkable happened in the 93rd minute when Luke Roders converted a Perry cross to give the 3,500 Leeds fans a bitter journey home from Vale Park. When one scores three goals away from home against the bottom club in League 1 it would be expected they would win but sadly this Leeds team of late is shy on confidence.

It is time for the players to stand up and be counted as after such a tremendous start to the season when one would assume that automatic promotion was the order of the day it now looks very… Read more

Beckford On The Double

Leeds United 2 Walsall 0

Jermaine Beckford breathed fresh life into Leeds United's League One play-off push with a livewire performance as they beat promotion-chasing Walsall in front of the Sky cameras at Elland Road. As usual we met up for the game in Moroneys and despite our lowely position our die hard supporters turned up to cheers on The Whites. Many a supporters club including the Man U's of this world would be delighted with the turn out we get for the few live matches we're on TV.

Beckford who had one of his best games for quite some time should have scored after two minutes when he was put clean through by a Freedman pass but his side footed effort went wide with only Ince to beat. The former Scunthorpe manamends on 29 minutes with an excellent goal and he made the points safe for The Whites ten minutes… Read more

Terrible Crap

Leeds United 1 Cheltenham Town 2

In what was expected to be a handy three points for the home side the opposite happened and Cheltenham have now completed the double over Leeds. Struggling to avoid relegation from League 1,Cheltenham after surviving an early scare when Beckford hit the crossbar after 90 seconds proceeded to take the game by the scruff of the neck and were worthy winners.

Indeed when Anthony Elding scored his first goal for Leeds on 85 minutes many supporters in the crowd had left including our very own Jim Ryan who went over for the game. We are running out of games and sliding down the table with a top six place looking harder to achieve by the week. Let's hope I'm mistaking.

Two Wins On The Trot For Garry

Leeds United 2 Bournemouth o

Leeds made it back-to-back wins as their 2-0 win over Bournemouth saw Gary McAllister's side rise to seventh in the table and more importantly two clean sheets. This was also Leeds first home win since 5th January and hopefully now our bad run is out of the way. Bradley Johnson got the ball rolling in the 11th minute after a mix-up in the Bournemouth goal, before Neil Kilkenny (63) wrapped up the triumph with a excellent strike.

On loan signing Dougie Freedman came on for the last twenty minutes and his cuteness and eye for goal should be a big addition going in to the last quarter of the season. With Tranmere losing Leeds moved up a place and are now only one point off the all important sixth play off position.

Win At Last For Gary

Swindon Town 0 Leeds United 1

Finally a win for Leeds manager Gary McAllister and one that was well merited. New loan signing Steve O Halloran who was to start at left back was injured in the warm up was replaced by Frazier Richordson and Leeds also welcomed back Neil Kilkenny to midfield. A superb header by Tresor Kandol following a David Prutton cross was enough to give Leeds a very valueable three points in their fight for a top six play off place.

Leeds are now in 8th place two points behind Tranmere and the next few games will define the season for McAllister boys.

Down to 9th

Leeds United 1 Crewe 1

Leeds remain without a win under Gary McAllister after another disappointing showing at Elland Road, but they were able to salvage a late draw through Tresor Kandol's header on 86 minutes. Nicky Maynard had scored for struggling Crewe two minutes into the second half and this was no more than they deserved against a very sluggish home side.

Despite make three changes to his starting line up from the Forest game with Tore Andre Flo, Frazier Richardson and Peter Sweeney recalled for Jermaine Beckford ( suspended), Andrew Hughes ( injured) and Bradley Johnson (dropped)this was another below par performance from McAllisters boys. It's now getting to crisis point in the season and unless we start picking up points shortly we will drip out of the promotion race before the season reaches it's climax.

Great Trip and Luck Break

Leeds United 1 Nottingham Forest 1

It started out as a idea of three guys going over for the midweek Forest game and ended up with 17 going to the game from Ennis. When we turned up at the airport we were surprised to meet other Leeds fans from the town who we did not realize were also going over for the game. Leon Quirke along with his girlfriend Louise, Josie and Mary Hestor ( their daughters had given them a trip to Leeds for Christmas, how nice ) and George Casey who was bringing his son to the game, having availed of the mid term break were in the airport lounge when we arrived in Shannon. Also there were the Guckian family who were making the most of the midterm break and were staying with relations in Leeds until Saturday. The flight to Leeds / Bradford was nearly full and… Read more

Bad Spell Continues For Whites

Northampton Town 1 Leeds United 1

Leeds winless run continued after they dropped more league points away at Northampton. Leeds have now only gained two points from a possible fifteen in their last five games which has somewhat taken the gloss off their great start to the season. The Whites have been struggling for goals of late but they took the lead at Sixfields on 38 minutes when Jonathan Howson converted Bradley Johnson's cross. However, they failed to build on their lead and in the second half Adebayo Akinfenwa struck in the 75th minute to claim a deserved point for the home side.

Boss Gary McAllister has a big week facing him with a home game tomorrow night to Nottingham Forest and away to other promotion hopefuls Doncaster Rovers on Saturday. Having now slipped out of the top six it is now vitally important that United get back to winning ways… Read more

Going To Forest Game

Tomorrow nights fixture at home to Nottingham Forest will see Ennislusc well represented at the game. Although it is not a club trip there will be 11 members over for the game. The travelling party will include Kevin Green, Paul Nihill, Bryan Woods, Marty Brennan and his girlfriend Melissa O Connell who presented Marty with the trip as a Christmas gift. She certainly knows how to keep our Marty happy. Also on the trip are father and son John and Gary Brooks, Kevin and Noelette Barry and Johnny and Marian Moroney who is the Magpie in the party as she is a QPR fan.

Let's hope that we see goals but more importantly secure the three points. Marching On Together.

No Dream Start For Gary

Leeds United 0 Tranmere Rovers 2

Leeds new management under Gary McAllister began on a sour note after they slipped to a 2-0 defeat to in-form Tranmere at Elland Road. Despite having five new faces on show Leeds poor form continued and they slipped to their third defeat in four games. Worrying still is their failure to find the back of the net after such a prolific first half of the season. A terrific curling shot from the edge of the area from Jennison Myrie-Williams broke the deadlock in the second half before former Leeds man Ian Moore on his second debut for Tranmere sealed the win.

While McCallister was very disappointed with the result it was the performance that he harped on about. He felt that the team lacked confidence and that a lot of work was needed on the training ground this week to regain some much need confidence.… Read more

Stan Is Our Man

Steve Staunton has expressed his delight after teaming up with Gary McAllister again at Leeds United. McAllister who managed Staunton when he was in charge of Coventry City has brought him in as his assistant at Elland Road on a contract initially until the end of the season. Staunton training with Leedstoday and is looking forward to the opportunity with the League One promotion hopefuls.

"I'm delighted to be here," Staunton told the club's official website. "Gary brought me to Coventry as a player, I played with him at Liverpool, and it's nice to team up again.
I hope I can be of assistance and help this great club get back to where it belongs. It's a great opportunity to work at a big club with a good manager, and learn the ropes from someone else on the inside and see how a club runs. Your next progresssion after playing is… Read more

From Bad To Worse

Southend 1 Leeds United 0

Although Gary McAllister was not present at Roots Hall last night he'll now be well aware of the big task that lies ahead of him following this defeat. Confidence is at a low ebb and goals are hard to come by for a team that could'nt stop scoring before Christmas.

Lee Barnard's goal on his home debut just before half-time delighted the Roots Hall faithful, as he flicked a Steven Hammell free-kick home awarded for a foul conceded by Jermaine Beckford. In a game of few chances Leeds were restricted to long rane efforts from Kandol , Beckford and the returning Neil Kilkenny from suspension. However none troubled Darryl Flahavan in the Southend goal and this was a lifeless performance by a managerless Leeds X1.

Saturday next sees Leeds at home to Tranmere in Gary McAllister first game in charge. With these teams fighting it out for a top… Read more

Club Trip For Brighton Game

Plans are well ahead for the second club trip of the season to the Brighton game on 29th March. Already 22 members have confirmed their places with another 10/15 yet to make up their minds. One piece of good news is that we'll now fly direct into Leeds / Bradford from Shannon on the 28th March and this is a welcome development for the club. The flight departs at 16.45 which is another plus and does away with our two hour trip from Liverpool to Leeds on our arrival. However we will still come back via Liverpool on Sunday as there is no direct flight back to Shannon on that day.

The cost of the flight is €100 which represents good value and we will once again stay in Bewleys although we are still sourcing other hotels in the Leeds area. If you are interesting in going with us on… Read more

Captain Fantastic Is Back

Gary McAllister has been named Leeds United's new manager following Dennis Wise's exit to Newcastle United. A firm favourite with the fans Gary has initially joined until the end of the season with promotion being his objective. The 43-year-old former club captain spent six years at Leeds making over 300 appearances before joining Coventry in 1996 and then going on to Liverpool. McAllister, who won 57 caps for Scotland, went on to manage The Sky Blues before stepping down due to family reasons.

According to Chairman Ken Bates Leeds were on the lookout for a new manager following Newcastle United's surprise move for Dennis Wise on Friday last. Technical director Gwyn Williams will oversee Leeds fixture at Southend tonight following Dave Bassett and coach John Gannon's exit. Gary will meet the players for the first time on Wednesday morning at Torp Arch before taking charge of first-team affairs for the… Read more

Wise Jumps Ship For Newcastle

Leeds have confirmed Dennis Wise is set to leave the club to join Newcastle after he prepares the team for their away fixture with Southend on Tuesday evening. It was reported over the weekend that Newcastle had targeted a move for Wise to be director of football at St Jameses Park. New Magpies boss Kevin Keegan is keen to have Wise in his new-look backroom team having worked with the player during his time as coach of England.

The news will come as a massive shock to Leeds fans all over the globe as we battle to win promotion from League One at the first time of asking. Ken Bates has not commented on the position of a new manager as yet only saying that Leeds do not conduct their affairs in the public domain. He did however state that Leeds were approached on Friday by Newcastle in relation to… Read more
