We'll Take A Point

Leeds United 1 Leicester City 1

In front of theie biggest crowd of the season Robert Snodgrass scored an injury-time equaliser to deny table toppers Leicester and earn Simon Grayson a point in his first game in charge of Leeds. Leicester looked to have had the game won when Matt Oakley converted Matt Fryatt's pass from close range. Earlier Argentinian Luciano Becchio had struck the post for Leeds.

But the Leeds were not to be denied and late on Snodgrass latched onto Jonny Howson's chip and forced the ball in at the far post.

Grayson Manager No. 9 In Ten Years

Once again Leeds are in the news for all the wrong reasons after the sacking of Gary McAllister and the appointment of ex Leeds player and current Blackpool boss Simon Grayson to the No 1 job at Elland Road. Blackpool have reported Leeds United to the Football League after the League One club named Simon Grayson as their new manager. The Seasiders claim they rejected five approaches from Leeds and did not accept Grayson's resignation.

The Championship club are also seeking legal advice over an alleged breach of contract by Grayson. Leeds chairman Ken Bates has insisted his club did nothing wrong in the process that led to Grayson's move. Bates told Yorkshire Radio that after his initial approach was rejected "that was the end of it" until Blackpool put the news in the public domain. He added that Grayson was appointed only after resigning as Blackpool boss.

Down And Out

MK Dons 3 Leeds United 1

Leeds suffered their fifth straigh defeat in the league and have now dropped down to 9th in the table and five points off the play offs.

The hosts took the lead when Jemal Johnson's corner found Sean O'Hanlon and he headed into the Leeds net. Their lead doubled when Wilbraham poked another Johnson corner in, before Leeds got back into the game when Robert Snodgrass volleyed in from 20 yards.

But the Dons wrapped things up when Leeds left Wilbraham unmarked for him to head in Johnson's cross. Speaking after the match Leeds United manager Gary McAllister told BBC Radio Leeds:
"I feel I am letting the fans down. The city of Leeds deserves better. "We'll keep working, I'll continue to work hard with the players to put things right. That's my job."

Milton Keynes Dons: Gueret, Stirling (Howell 90), O'Hanlon, Llera, Cummings, Johnson, Navarro,… Read more

McAllister Gets The Sack

It had to happen even for a Leeds hero like Gary McAllister but five straight defeats in the league was not on and the writing was on the wall. Bad enough going out of the FA Cup to non league Histon but failing even to qualify for the play offs this season would be unthinkable. Also gone is his assistant Steve Staunton who in my humble opinion brought nothing to the club and seems to be out of his depth in a management role.

Well who'll take over I hear you say ? My preference would be Gus Poyet but also in the frame will be Adi Boothroyd, Alan Curbishley and of course Paul Ince. Neil Thompson and Andy Beasley took charge of training on Monday morning, but Leeds said: "We hope to appoint a new manager as quickly as possible."

Former Watford boss Boothroyd, 37, left Vicarage Road in November… Read more

Welcome Jamie

Even in these times of recession and following five defeats in a row by our beloved Leeds United the membership of Ennislusc continues to grow. Today we welcome new member Jamie Kelleher who hails from Glendine, Miltown Malbay and has been a lifetime Leeds supporter.

However it took Ennis native and now resident Mullagh man Pat Basil Whelan to tell Jamie of Ennislusc. You see Jamie is a mechanic by profession and as we all know Basil loves his car restoration projects so when they met up Bas was wearing his Ennislusc jacket and as they say the rest is history.

So once again welcome to the club Jamie and we look forward to seeing you in Moroney's for some of the televised games or better still on some of our infamous trips to Elland Road. Marching on Together.

The Joke Is Over

Leeds United 1 Colchester Utd 2

This result reminds one of our FA Cup meeting in the 3rd in 1971 with the same opposition when that great Leeds team of Bremmner, Giles, Lorimer, Gray etc were beaten 3-2 at Layer Road . Today we are not as fortunate to have such players at our disposal and if one listened to Yorkshire Radio for todays game and heard the great Eddie Gray comments it certainly would made all Leeds fans sad. In Eddie's opinion this was a very poor performance and if this great winger mades such comments one should listen. This was our fourth straight league defeat and if one took in the FA Cup game vs Histon that would make it five in a row.

What has gone wrong? Once again the opposition scored from two set pieces the first a corner and the second a free kick after David Prutton… Read more

Away Day Blues Once Again

Tranmere Rovers 2 Leeds United 1

Tranmere came from behind to hand Leeds a fifth away defeat of the season. Fraser Richardson flicked on a Robert Snodgrass cross for Enoch Showunmi to beat Danny Coyne from eight yards and give the visitors an early lead.

But when United keeper David Lucas missed his punch from an Andy Taylor free-kick, Antony Kay was on hand to head Rovers level from 12 yards.
Ian Moore's speculative 20-yard shot wrapped up the win although Leeds had a Luciano Becchio header ruled out.

How Low Can We Go

FA Cup 2nd Round

Histon 1 Leeds United 0

Does it get any worse than this I hear you say ? Certainly as a life long Leeds supporter this has to be the bitterest pill to swallow even worse than when Colchester beat us 3-2 in the 1971 FA Cup at Layer Road. Then we had a star studded team of household names but the present team would wipe their boots. They have no heart and lack the fight needed when you play on waterlogged pitches and against 11 partimers who have nothing to lose. Sad to say Gary McAllister did'nt once get off his bench in the second half and looked resigned that his team were heading for defeat long before the final whistle.

Matthew Langston's header stunned Leeds and earned non-league Histon a home tie with Swansea in the FA Cup third round. In a game played in awful conditions, postman… Read more

Another Black Away Day

Northampton Town 2 Leeds United 1

Substitute Nicholas Bignall grabbed the winner as Northampton gained revenge for last week's FA Cup defeat with victory over Leeds. The Cobblers took a deserved lead in the 28th-minute when Liam Davis fired in from the edge of the area.

Becks On Fire

Leeds United 4 Hartlepool 1

Jermaine Beckford scored his fourth and fifth goal as classy Leeds eased past Hartlepool. Becks opened the scoring when he glanced home a fine cross from Andrew Hughes but Joel Porter's header from Michael Nelson's centre on twenth five minutes made it 1-1.

Fabian Delph ( who has Liverpool and Arsenal monitoring his progress ) restored Leeds lead with a low drive from 12 yards on 50 mins and Beckford teed up Luciano Becchio who blasted in number three from eight yards on 64 mins..

Beckford rounded off the scoring, collecting a Hughes pass and firing in the home side's fourth in injury time. This completed a great week for Leeds haveing knocked Northampton Town out of the FA Cup on Monday night and now they are beginning to fire on all cylinders.Let's hope for all concerned it continues.

The second round of this year's FA Cup sees Leeds travel to non league Histon on Sun 30th Nov for a 12.15pm kick off which is live on ITV. This is a potential bananna skin for The Whites but if we overcome the non league side we are then in the draw with the big boys and who know Man U at homee !

Robbed At The Death

Leeds United 1 Huddesfield Town 2

It all started so well for Leeds in front of their biggest crowd of the season ( 32,028) when Robert Snodgrass got on the end of a Becchio cross on four minutes to see the boys on their way or so we thought. Playing some of the best football we have seen from a Leeds team in over four years it looked like this could be a dream day over on our annual trip. However not being able to get that crucil second ment that we were always vulenrable on the break and so it proved forty seconds into the second half.

Just after half-time Leeds keeper Casper Ankergren failed to deal with Keigan Parker's cross and Joe Skarz the left back finished from close range to equalise.Leeds did press on to get that elusive second and both Beckford and Becchio with a header off the… Read more

Magical Trip Despite Defeat

As we relaxed in Moroneys on Sunday evening after another eventful trip club secretary Paul Nihill remarked that I had'nt mentioned that this was our best trip yet but it was because it's a given at this stage. All we were missing was the result and as said in the match report this was of our own doing. This time our plane journey took us to Birmingham Airport ( as East Midlands was taken off the Ryanair schedule five weeks before our trip) which is 187K from Leeds but the bus journey was as always humerous and we played a comedy video ( Deuce Bigalow ) to pass the time.

The journey time was two hours and when we got to The Marriott Hotel at 5.20pm it was the start of a mighty weekend. This hotel is now our No 1 spot in Leeds and even our old favourite The Queens… Read more

Cup Tie On Sky Friday Night

Tomorrow evening sees Leeds United take on Northampton Town in the 2nd Round of this years FA Cup at Elland Road. A big comedown for such a great club as Leeds but hopefully this season under Gary McAllister sees us on the road to recovery with promotion our number one option. Yes a good cup run as we're haveing in the Carling Cup where we are in the last 16 and due to play Derby County would be superb but is not the main aim of our season.

The FA game gives us a chance to meet up before we travel over on Friday week for the Huddesfield Town game and as always the atmosphere will be electric in Moroneys. So if you are around tomorrow evening come down to the game and afterwards enjoy the trad session. Marching On Together.

Fabulous Fab

Leeds United 3 Walsall 0

Teenager Fabian Delph scored two superb goals as Leeds brushed aside Walsall to secure a seventh successive home win. Home keeper Casper Ankergren who was in in place of David Lucas made a fine early save to deny Jabo Ibehre but Leeds dominated from then on.

Defence Still A Problem

Leeds United 2 Leyton Orient 1

If Leeds can get their defensive weakness right then they will be hot favourites to get promotion. With Beckford and Becchio up front chances will always be created as was the case tonight but they have only kept three clean sheets in eleven league games this season which shows where our problems are.

Jermaine Beckford missed a penalty and hit the woodwork three times but Leeds still saw off Leyton Orient. Beckford slipped in his run-up to his spot-kick and fired over after JJ Melligan handballed in the area.

The O's took the lead when Dean Morgan found the bottom corner but a Stephen Purches own goal brought Leeds level. Luciano Becchio headed the home side in front from Frazer Richardson's cross before Beckford hit the bar once and a post twice in the second half.
