I Didn't See That Coming

Leeds United 1 Bournemouth 0

What a week for Luke Murphy, two brilliant goals that gave a valuable four points to Leeds and move us away from the relegation zone. The Cherries must be sick of seeing us as they have wone only one of our previous 13 meetings and have now won home and away against the league leaders. Perhaps we rode our luck with Bournemouth having a goal disallowed and them missing a penalty with 4 minutes remaining but it's no more than we deserved considering how well we played in the first half.

Leeds United ended their eight game winless run thanks to Luke Murphy magnificent left-footed strike on 36 minutes. Bournemouth were awarded a penalty late on but Yann Kermorgant hit the bar. Giuseppe Bellusci was sent off for fouling Callum Wilson in the lead up to penalty which on replays looked to have taken place outside the area… Read more

Murph To The Rescue

Leeds United 1 Birmingham City 1

Luke Murphy struck with five minutes remaining to gain a valuable but well deserved point as Leeds stay just above the relegation zone.Paul Caddis fifth minute penalty looked to have given the visitors a third consecutive away league win after Liam Cooper brought down Clayton Donaldson inside the penalty area. Midfielder Murphy rifled home after Birmingham had failed to clear Sam Byram's cross and gave Neil Redfearn a much need boost.

Nearing The Relegation Zone For The Whites

Bolton Wanderers 1 Leeds United 1

Eidur Gudjohnsen's first goal since returning to Bolton (14 years after he left them for Chelsea) gave Neil Lennon's side a hard earned point but leaves United perilously close to the relegation zone. Leeds made a dream start when Rodolph Austin slotted home a third-minute penalty after Sam Byram was fouled by keeper Andy Lonergan.

Just three minutes after the interval disaster struck Leeds when Luke Murphy fouled Darren Pratley in the area and Gudjohnson convert the spot kick with aplomb.Bolton dominated the possession stats but Leeds had more shots on target (5 to Wanderers 3) in a game that a draw was probably a fair result.

It Could Have Been Seven

Derby County 2 Leeds United 0

After this defeat Neil Redfearn will be looking over his shoulder and wonder how long more before the ax falls as his honeymoon period is long over and Cellinio's patience must be on the wain. It was an inept display from Leeds allied to atrocious defending which has been our achilles heal all season.

Derby dominated possession but it took until the 41st minute to break the deadlock as midfielder Will Hughes drove into the box before cutting the ball back into the path Alex Mowatt who steered it home for an own goal. And it could have been 3-0 at HT only for United's keeper Silvistri to save a Keogh header and an Ibe's shot. Two minutes after the break The Rams doubled their lead with defender Buxton powerfully heading home to end the match as a contest.

We are now 5th from the bottom just… Read more

Christmas And New Year's Greetings To All

All at Ennislusc wish each and every member and their families a Happy Christmas and Prosperous New Year. We also think of those members who have lost loved ones during the year and we pray they are looking down on us from on high.

As for our beloved Leeds United one can only say the goings on at Elland Road are far beyond soap opera proportions and one can only hope the way is up in 2015. However something tells me there are a lot more twists on this road to redemption and The Premiership !

Gods Smile On Leeds

Nottingham Forest 1 Leeds United 1

Matty Fryatt was left cursing his luck as he scored one goal but was denied two more as Forest were held by a dogged Leeds at the City Grounds.
The striker put the home side ahead in injury time first half when he poked the ball in from close range. However he had two goals chalked off for offside with replays showing that the forward was onside on both occasions something which was not lost on Forest manager Stuart Pearce in his after match interview.

Leeds with only one win in five games equalised on 54 minutes when ex Forest forward Billy Sharp converted from the spot after Danny Fox had brought down Sam Byram. Forest will be disappointed not to have taken all three points but Leeds can have some consolation with the point and in particular the performance of 17 year old Lewis… Read more

Dropping Down The Table At Alarming Rate

Leeds United 0 Fulham 1

United welcomed back Ross McCormack to Elland Road and got a good reception from the majority of the crowd. However Hugo Rodallega scored the only goal on 60 minutes as Fulham departed with a valuable three points and leap frogged Leeds in the Championship.Leeds had a fantastic chance to level when Fulham keeper Gabor Kiraly missed Billy Sharp's cross but Adryan headed wide.
Rodallega had a chance to seal the game when he was through on goal but failed to hit the target.
The result dropped Leeds to 19th and heaps more misery on Neil Readfearn.

Disastrous Defending After Super Start

Ipswich Town 4 Leeds United 1

After a superb victory at Elland Road last weekend United came crashing down to earth with a bang at Portman Road. Neil Redfearn's side made a great start to the game taking the lead after only four minutes with in form Mirco Antenucci converted a Warnock's cross. This was a totally unusual scenario for the away side but unfortunately the lead lasted only seven minutes as an unmarked ex Irish International Daryl Murphy headed a Chambers cross beyond goalkeeper Marco Silvestri to level for The Tractor Boys

Worse was to follow on 26 minutes when Stephen Warnock bundled Paul Anderson in the box and McGoldrick made no mistake from the spot. On the stroke of half time Murphy got his second of the afternoon slotting the ball through the legs of the Leeds goalkeeper for his 13th goal of the season. Whatever manager Redfearn said at… Read more

United Down The League Leading Rams

Leeds United 2 Derby County 0

What a game for the 26th visit to Elland Road by Ennislusc members and see their beloved Whites down the high flying Rams, gaining their first victory over them since September 2005.Derby had won 10 of the previous 12 meetings between the two sides in all competitions and drawing the other two.

It was a terrific day for United's Mirco Antenucci whose double strike gave the home crowd of 26,028 one of their best days of this topsy
turvy year. His first strike came on 43 minutes when he slotting home Alex Mowatt's cut-back from 12 yards. Then to settle the nerves of the home fans he made it 2-0 on 50 minutes after a one-two between Stephen Warnock and Adryan. He nearly completed his hat trick late on first forcing a fine save from Lee Grant before later cutting inside the box and striking just inches over… Read more

It's a big ask for Neil Redferns boys but fingers crossed they will put in a good performance shouted and no doubt our traveling squad will have a super weekend regardless of the outcome. Finally A Win To Lift The Gloom

Leeds United 3 Blackpool 1

Neil Redfearn who was in caretaker charge earlier in the season before being handed the job permanently finally got off to winning ways in his third game in charge second time round. Liam Cooper's left-footed volley from twenty yards on 9 minutes gave United a dream start and was his first goal for the club. Things got better for Leeds on 31 minutes when Doukara's first-time finish rounded off a superb team move.

In a brilliant first half display Leeds secured the points on 42 minutes through Antenucci's deflected strike from 18 yards which was the Italian's fifth goal of the season. The second half was a drab affair with United content to defend deep and ex Newcastle striker Nial Granger pulled one back for Blackpool on 75 minutes but that was as good as it got for new manager Lee Clarke. Leeds are now up… Read more

Two Super Mowatt Strikes Not Enough

Leeds United 2 Charlton Athletic 2

Neil Redfearn's side twice squandered the lead as two Johann Berg Gudmundsson goals earned Charlton a point at Elland Road. United are winless in eight but took led through 19 year old Alex Mowatt's third strike of the season. The central midfielder curled a superb left foot shot into the top corner from 12 yards on 49 minutes.

Charlton got back on level terms when Gudmundsson scored on 62 minutes but Mowatt hit a stunning second from 20 yards on 67 minutes and Leeds looked to be on the way to securing a much needed three points. However it was not to be and Charlton earned a point after Giuseppe Bellusci's foul in the box allowed Gudmundsson to score from the spot on 81 mins. We are now 17th in The Championship and sliding down the table at an alarming rate.

No Dream Start For Redfearn

Cardiff City 3 Leeds United 1

Leeds announced Neil Redfearn's appointment as their new manager less than 90 minutes before kick-off but there was no silver lining for The Whites as they remain winless in seven games. There were only a few half-chances for either team in a dour and drab first half and in truth Leeds probably shaded it in the possession stats.

Cardiff stareted the second half in determined fashion and their two centre-backs combined for the opening goal on 61 minutes when Sean Morrison heading across goal for Ecuele Manga to nod in his first goal for Cardiff. The Bluebirds doubled their lead six minutes later as Macheda's shot took a huge deflection off Jason Pearce. Alex Mowatt scored a brilliant individual goal on 77 minutes to breath some life into United .

However Leeds hopes of a comeback were undermined by their own farcical defending as Silvestri and Giuseppe… Read more

Darko Gets The Boot After 32 Days In Charge

Leeds United 1 Wolverhampton Wanderers 2

We are slowly becoming the biggest joke in football with Darko Milanic being sacked after 32 days in charge, breaking our previous record of 44 days which was held by legendary managers Brian Clough and Jock Stein.Since 1986 Leeds have had 24 managers which is the same amount Manchester United have had in their entire history which says it all. While Darko was in charge for 6 games (Appointed 23rd Sept, 2 draws and 4 losses) he had a guillotine hanging over his head ever since he took the post after leaving Sturm Graz.

Leeds owner Massimo Cellino has a reputation for sacking managers having sacked 36 in 22 years in his time with Cagliari. Even the great John Giles has gone on record as stating that he should get out of the club and leave it for an owner who could work for best interest… Read more

No Singing For Canaries

Norwich City 1 Leeds United 1

Despite a possession stat of 38 per cent Leeds managed to steal a point at Carrow Road and Milanic is still looking for his first win as Boss in his 5th game in the hot seat. How long more will Cellinio's patience last I wonder give his reputation foe sacking managers. Add to that a claim by Norwich striker Cameron Jerome that he was racially abused by Leeds defender Giuseppe Bellusci just adds to the woes of the club. With total uncertainty with the owners position over tax problems in his native Italy is it any wonder Leeds fans are wondering when will this long running saga ever end.

The Canaries had the better of the first half and were rewarded on 59 minutes when Russell Martin headed in from a corner. Thankfully the Leeds heads did not drop and four minutes later were… Read more

Howardy's 40th Only Bright Spot

Rotherham 2 Leeds United 1

Another televised match and another defeat but at least we got to celebrate our club member Enda Howard's 40th in style. Defeat never matter to Ennislusc when we hit the town and true to form we had a mighty sing song and even Enda's friends and relations were in awe of the comradeship in our club.

Leeds dominated the first possession and opening the scoring on 30 minutes when Antenucci finished brilliantly after being played in on goal by Souleymane Doukara. However the second half was an all together different game and in truth The Millers deserved their win with goals on 58 and 65 minutes. It was only Rotherham's second league win over their more Leeds since 1962 and heaps more pressure on manager Darko Milanic in only his fourth game in the dugout.

No Goals For Nuggy To Celebrate

Leeds United 0 Reading 0

Ennislusc Secretary Paul ( Nuggy) Nihill made a five hour return journey to see his beloved Whites welcome their new manager Darko Milanic to Elland Road but unfortunately he didn't get to see a goal.Paul who is over on business, drove up to the game and on the positive side he saw a much improved performance from their dire performance on Saturday.

The Royals were the better side for much of the game and Nick Blackman went close when his low shot was pushed away by goalkeeper Marco Silvestri. United's best chance was a free-kick from defender Giuseppe Bellusci that went just over the bar. Silvestri who was the busier of the two keepers blocked Glenn Murray's header before Leeds striker Billy Sharp's low drive was held by Adam Federici. Unfortunately Billy Sharp's effort with five minutes remaining was the home side's only shot on target out… Read more

Bad Start For Darko

Brentford 2 Leeds United 0

Leeds United started life under new boss Darko Milanic with a disappointing defeat at Griffin Park where the home side had 24 shots on goal to United 13.They even had the luxury of missing a first half penalty when James Tarkowski hammered a first-half penalty over the crossbar after Jason Pearce floored Andre Gray in the area. In first half injury time Jota gave the Bees a deserved lead and ex United midfielder Jonathan Douglas played a big part in the build up.

Brentford sealed the win on 77 minutes when McCormack goal bound shot was deflected wrong-footed Silvestri but in fairness it was no more than the home side deserve.Leeds only threat on goal was a Pearce header that was well saved by Bees keeper David Button. In four games under Neil Readfearn Leeds won three and drew one but Milanic has a long… Read more

Impressive Derby Win

Leeds United 3 Huddersfield Town

Leeds's caretaker boss Neil Redfearn saw them continued their impressive form as they cruised past The Terriers to earn a third win in four games under his reign. United are expected to appoint Darko Milanic the ex Sturm Graz manager as their new boss led 2-0 at the break through Rudy Austin's strike on 19 minutes and Mirco Antenucci's close-range shot on stroke of half time.

Souleymane Doukara made it three on 69 minutes from an Austin pass and Leeds were in cruise control. United defender Gaetano Berardi saw red for a second yellow card with 17 minutes remaining but Leeds help firm for a hugely satisfying victory.
