Still Unbeaten After A Scare

Leeds United 1 Brentford 1

Mirco Antenucci's second-half strike on 76 minutes saw Uwe Rosler's Leeds rescue a point against his old club Brentford. The Bees deservedly took the lead on 29 minutes when Marco Djuricin (loan signing from Red Bull Salsburg) found the net with a curling strike from 12 yards. Early in the second half the Austria international almost doubled his tally hitting the post with a sublime effort

It was now time for a lack luster Leeds to wake up and Chris Wood saw his shot hit the woodwork.
Just when it looked like it might turn out to be a first defeat of the season for the Leeds, Brentford's substitute Ryan Woods was dispossessed by Antenucci (who had come on at half-time) fired home the equaliser with his left foot from 15 yards. It was no more than Leeds deserved as they were the dominant team… Read more

Wedding Bells For Shaunagh And James

On Friday next at 2pm in St John The Baptist Church, Cashel Ennislusc member James Barry will marry the lovely Shaunagh Walshe from Waterford who is also a staunch Leeds United fan. The Barry's are synonymous with Ennislusc as James's parents Kevin ( Past President of Ennislusc) and Noelette are members of the club since its formation. Indeed James and Shaunagh have been on club trips to Elland Road and have been an item since 2006.

If James and Shaunagh can survive the trials and tribulations of their beloved Whites since the met nine years ago with relegations, promotions and liquidations the order of the day they'll find marriage a dawdle. All their friends at Ennislusc wish them a fantastic wedding day and long life and happiness into the future. Marching On Together will certainly get an airing in Dundrum House Hotel at some stage on Friday night of that there… Read more

Wonder Strike From Chris Woods Seals Leeds Win

Derby County 1 Leeds United 2

United sealed their first victory in 13 years at Pride Park with a contender for goal of the season from New Zealand International Chris Woods. His twenty yard strike on 88 minutes left Carson stranded in the Derby goal and gave Leeds their first victory in five games and his third in successive games.Leeds took the lead on 43 minutes when Stuart Dallas crossed and Adeyemi headed powerfully to the net from eight yards. This was well deserved as Leeds had dominated the first half with The Rams having not one single shot on goal.

The second have had hardly begun when Chris Martin's low shot had brought Derby level after he turned Liam Cooper rather easily. However it was England Under-19 international Lewis Cook, who was returning from suspension having been given a red card vs Doncaster Rover in the Capital Cup that was the… Read more

Rosler Still Looking For First Win

Leeds United 1 Sheffield Wednesday 1

New Zealand International Chris Wood scored a second-half equaliser as Leeds United were held to a fourth successive Championship draw by Yorkshire neighbours Sheffield Wednesday. Leeds fell behind on 37 minutes to a wonder strike from
Marco Matias. Picking up the ball on the right wing he flicked it over Liam Cooper's head with his right foot then hitting a stunning volley with his left from the corner of the box.Keeper Silvestri didn't flinch a muscle as the ball hit the crossbar and nestled in the net, truly a goal of the season candidate.

Leeds were level on 61 minutes when Wood toe poked a Stuart Dallas cross in from close range. It was no more than United deserved as the dominated possession but once again looked toothless up front. Twenty shots on goal with only three on target tells its own story. Leeds have now… Read more

Heartbreak for Whites At Aston Gate

Bristol City 2 Leeds United 2

Leading two nil on 88 minutes the three points looked secure and on their way to Elland Road along with a first win for the season but alas there was a huge sting in the tail for Leeds. When Bristol scored on 89 minutes it looked like a consolation goal but six minutes of injury time was indicated and in the fifth minute of that disaster struck for Uwe Rosler's men.

Leeds took the lead from Mirco Antenucci's penalty on 39 minutes when he was taken down by keeper Hamer. He took the spot kick himself and sent the keeper the wrong way giving United a huge half time boast.Their second came when new signing Chris Wood cut inside and netted with a low finish on 52 minutes.

Kieran Agard pulled one back for Bristol with a left with a shot off the post and… Read more

Drab Draw At Madejski Stadium

Reading 0 Leeds United 0

In a poor game with little to cheer about Leeds winger Stuart Dallas came close to opening the scoring but his 20-yard effort went narrowly wide. This was the only highlight of a forgetful first forty five minutes. In the 21st minute of the match all of the ground stood to applaud Royals Academy manager and ex Irish International Eamonn Dolan who is undergoing a course of chemotherapy.

United's New Zealand international Chris Wood came close late on as his turn and volley hit the roof of the net before in injury-time Jordan Obita's free-kick was well kept out by Leeds keeper Marco Silvestri. Two games and two points but we are still lacking a cutting edge up front. With over 4,000 travelling Leeds fans in attendance they will expect a lot more in the coming games but at least we are looking solid at the… Read more

Nuggy Steps Down As Secretary

At our AGM last night our outstanding secretary Paul Nuggy Nihill has stepped down from the position after being in situ since the formation of the club. Words cannot describe the contribution of Paul to the club over the years and he was the recipient of a standing ovation from all the members. Into the hot seat comes Mike Jones who is responsible for the Ennislusc Facebook page and we wish him well in his new role.

Also elected on the night was new Club President Tommy Kelly with Liam Jones elected as Vice President. Ruan native Tommy is one of the club stalwarts and was a very popular choice with the members. All the other officers were reelected and Cyril Slim Corry was an able MC on the night.

Rotherham Chosen As Club Trip

The Rotherham game on Saturday 21st November has been chosen as the clubs first official trip of the new season. It was decided that we would hire a minibus and travel to Dublin Airport where we would get the direct flight to Leeds / Bradford. Time wise this seems to be the best option as one departs at 10.45 on a Friday and back in Dublin early on Sunday afternoon. Kevin Barry is in charge of sourcing the transport and as numbers are limited to 16 a deposit of €30 is required by September 14th to secure a seat.

Check out the Guestbook page were Cyril Slim Corry has given a detailed run down on the proposed trip.
Incidentally this will be our second time seeing Rotherham playing as we were at Elland Road on 8th May 2005 to witness a scoreless draw. Hopefully we'll see some goals this time around. MOT

Cause For Optimism For Leeds

Leeds United 1 Burnley 1

Uwe Rosler can be well pleased with the performance of his new look side who showed plenty of drive, fitness and some deft touched in what was a tough opening game against relegated Burnley. Indeed The Clarets had six players on show who featured in their last game of the season in The Premiership which was a win over Aston Villa. Through in an potential Goal Of The Month from Leeds substitute Mirco Antenucci and it certainly was a positive start for The Whites although we rode our luck with two big penalty shouts for Burnley in the first half. One seemed a certainty as Giuseppe Bellusci handled in the box but thankfully was not punished for his indiscretion.

A late header on 86 minutes from substitute Sam Vokes secured Burnley a draw at Leeds on their return to the Championship. Wales striker Vokes superbly headed in… Read more

Windfall For Leeds

Bournemouth have signed former Leeds United forward Max Gradel from St Etienne for a fee to be believed to be in the region of £7M.The good news for Leeds is that they had inserted a clause when they sold him to St Etienne that they would receive ten percent from any future transfer so there is a nice windfall on the way to Elland Road.

The Premier League newcomers have agreed a four-year deal with the 27-year-old, who had a loan spell with the Cherries in the 2007-08 season.
Gradel began his career at Leicester City and moved to Leeds in 2010 after a brief loan stint. He then joined St Etienne 18 months later and was their leading scorer in Ligue 1 last season with 17 goals only two fewer than Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Will Opening Fixture Be Televised

Well one would have to say that perhaps the most attractive Championship fixture of opening day on 8th August is Leeds United at home to Burnley. With a crowd of over 30,000 plus expected, Leeds under new management and Burnley recently relegated it seems like a no brainer that Sky will plump for this fixture to televise with a 5.15 KO.Fingers crossed I'm right as it would be an ideal start to the season for Ennislusc to meet up and discuss trips etc for new season.

Uwe Rosler New Leeds Manager

Uwe Rosler has agreed a two-year deal to be the new manager of Leeds United with a one year option with ex Leeds defender Gunnar Halle (of that infamous Roy Keane tackle)as his assistant. Head coach Neil Redfearn has been offered his role back with the Academy at Leeds and this is seen as a significant move given his track record with the youngsters previously.

Rosler (best remembered as a player for the miss of the season when playing with Liverpool) returns to the game for the first time since being sacked by Wigan Athletic back in November. He will hardly set the pulse racing for Leeds fans given his previous track record which reads as follows :

With win percentage

Lillestrom (November 2004-November 2006) 43.64

Viking (November 2006-November 2009) 41.57

Molde (August 2010-December 2010) 75.00

Brentford (June 2011-December 2013) 44.12

Wigan Athletic (December 2013-November 2014) 40.00

Poor End To Another Dismal Season

Leeds United 0 Rotherham United 0

Leeds and Rotherham rounded off their Championship campaigns with a boaring goalless draw at Elland Road which was witnessed by Ennislusc member John Galvin. In was a game of few chances and Leeds midfielder Rodolph Austin had the best effort when his fierce 35-yard strike was deflected wide. In a funny aside to the game Millers manager Steve Evans arrived wearing a sombrero, shorts and flip-flops in keeping with a promise he had made to fans if his side stayed up.

Thankfully the season is now over and another roller coaster one for The Whites in which once more we were in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. We thought we had a saviour in Massimo Cellino but unfortunately he brought prior problems from Italy re tax evasion and is only now allowed back into the board room. Where we go from here… Read more

Yorkshire Derby Honours To United

Sheffield Wednesday 1 Leeds United 2

Finally after a run of five straight defeats Leeds came from behind at Hillsborough to beat The Owls and gain some revenge for last seasons 6-0 defeat.Teenager Charlie Taylor equalised on 57 minutes for Leeds after Chris Maguire's first-half penalty put the home side in front after a foul by Sam Byram on 36 minutes.

Leeds created the majority of the chances with Alex Mowatt missing two openings in the early stages. Steve Morison fired in the winner on 72 minutes after Wednesday keeper Keiren Westwood saved his initial shot. This was an excellent performance from Leeds and hopefully can continue until the last game of the season at home to Rotherham who are fighting relegation and need the points to survive.

The Rot Goes On, Five Defeats In A Row

Charlton Athletic 2 Leeds United 1

United fell to their fifth straight defeat as at The Valley in the company of Ennislusc members Paul Nihill and Dom O Rourke. Leeds had 3,000 travelling fans at the game who made plenty of noise but once again came out on the wrong end of a poor game. Manager Neil Redfearn's plans were dealt a blow by the sudden withdrawal of six players before the game for a variety of injuries and all players that Cellinio brought to the club. Suspicious I hear you say !

However despite the set back the visitors were awarded a penalty on 37 minutes when Tal Ben Haim tripped Sam Byram but Stephen Henderson saved Billy Sharps spot-kick.The deadlock was finally broken on 40 minutes when Murphy's corner found Morison in space and the forward shot from 12 yards hit the onion sack. Charlton were back on level… Read more

The Canaries Are Singing Once Again

Leeds United 0 Norwich City 2

Norwich remain on target for a return to The Premiership as they are only a point behind Championship leaders Bournemout after inflicting yet another home defeat on a lack luster Leeds outfit.Ex Leeds Player of The Year Jonny Howson opened the scoring on 57 minutes with a shot from just inside the area. As befits the gentleman he didn't celebrate against his form team.

It could have been much worse as on on 31 minutes City were awarded a penalty after Howson was fouled in the box by Liam Cooper. Thankfully Graham Dorrans effort from the spot hit the crossbar. But Dorrans got his rewards in the 91st minute with a low drive from 12 yards to seal a vital victory for the East Anglican boys in their quest for automatic promotion. Unfortunately that's three losses on the bounce for Leeds which just so happens… Read more

Bluebirds Fly Away With The Points

Leeds United 1 Cardiff City 2

Bogey side Cardiff City left Elland Road with yet another victory but their goals were met by silence after Bluebirds fans boycotted the game.
The Welsh club were angry with their "derisory" 500-ticket allocation so sent all of the tickets back. Sean Morrison opened the scoring on 14 minutes for the visitors but Kalvin Phillips scored on his home debut for Leeds three minutes later. However on 62 minutes Aron Gunnarsson got the winner after a scramble in the box to send United to a second successive defeat.
