Moving On Up

Leeds United 1 Preston North End 0

Leeds registered their third win in four games as they beat 10-man Preston. The Lilywhites whose manager Simon Grayson was returning to Elland Road for the first time since being sacked by Leeds in February 2012 started very brightly and forced home goalkeeper Silvestri in three fine saves in the opening 10 minutes as Paul Gallagher, Will Keane and Joe Garner all went close.

Then the game changed dramatically when referee Gavin Ward sent off Preston goalkeeper Jordan Pickford after he was adjudged to have handled outside his penalty area after 30 minutes. Chris Woods was chasing down on him but on replay it looked very harsh as the ball seemed to hit the upper part of his chest near his left shoulder. It gave the incentive to Leeds but they looked very sluggish after their Thursday night endeavors.

First Win At Molineux Thirty One Years

Wolverhampton Wanderers 2 Leeds United 3

Leeds produced a brilliant fightback to beat Wolves and propel themselves up to 14th in the Championship. Against the run of play Benik Afobe slotted the hosts ahead on ten minutes before Sam Byram wh was restored to the starting eleven equalised just before half-time. Then on 51 minutes Stuart Dallas put Leeds ahead when his powerful volley from twenty yards beat Carl Ikeme at the near post. The keeper will be a bit disappointed as he got a hand to it but it was too powerfully stuck to keep it out.

Then transfer listed Byram who is refusing to sign a new contract added his second on sixty minutes when Charlie Taylor's left-wing cross hit his shoulder and looped in. It was all Leeds now and they looked to be comfortable before Nathan Byrne steered home a superb effort on 81 minutes. This… Read more

Drab Draw At The Valley

Charlton Athletic 0 Leeds United 0

In what will go down as a dreary draw neither side can complain with a share of the spoils as bath had clear cut chances to claim the three pints. The draw allows Charlton Athletic to move out of the Championship's bottom three and insured Leeds have collected 10 points in their six matches under new boss Steve Evans. However The Whites are now 18th in the table and struggling to score.

Ademola Lookman's shot bounced along the line for The Addicks while Leeds keeper Marco Silvestri's stunning save denied Ricardo Vaz Te when clean through. Leeds created little but Tom Adeyemi missed a late sitter from six yards dragging his shot wide.

No To Pies But Yes To Three Points

Leeds United 2 Hull City 1

On the day of the infamous pie strike where a small majority of Leeds fans walked out of the stadium in protest over the imposition of an extra £5 on ticket prices (to include a pie plus a drink) in the East Stand it was ironic that the first eleven put in their best performance of the season especially in the opening half. This was their second home league win of the season and against promotion hopefuls Hull City.

Chris Wood put United ahead on thirty minutes from close range with a excellent finish from Stuart Dallas's left wing cross. Then youngster Alex Mowatt's shot hit the bar before Spurs loanee Tom Adeyemi slammed in a shot to double the lead on the stroke of half time. Ahmed Elmohamady headed in from close range on fifty one minutes for Hull and then it was game on.… Read more

Marian Has Bragging Rights

Queens Park Rangers 1 Leeds United 0

When your better half tells you Leeds were dire the The R's could have won 4-0 you sit up and listen. This only compounds what our fellow members who were over at Elland Road last weekend said that we are in serious trouble and could conceivable be relegated such is our pathetic form. We are four points outside the bottom three and to borrow a phrase from the great Pat Spillane playing puke football.

Charlie Austin came off the bench and scored with his first touch and give ex Leeds manager Neil Warnock his first win as QPR's interim manager.
Austin headed in his eighth league goal of the season from a corner on 58 minutes in a game dominated by The R's.Leeds goalkeeper Marco Silvestri made several important saves from Austin and Tjaronn Chery to keep it at 1-0. Leeds winger Stuart Dallas… Read more

What A Load Of Rubbish

Leeds United 0 Rotherham United 1

The Ennislusc trip to Elland Road turned out to be a disaster of a game but as always the boys had a great weekend in Leeds. It got even better on the journey home from Dublin Airport when they stopped in Nenagh for a sociable drink to break the journey. With a bookies next door to the pub some of our punting experts noticed a horse named St Dominick running in Exeter and backed him in honour of fellow Ennislusc member Dom O Rourke. The horse skated home by ten lengths at odds of 9/2 with all the lads on and the cheers brought the house down.

Bach to the game, the less said the better. As Nuggy said in a text it was pure s--t which says it all. Rotherham boss Neil Redfearn won on his return to former club Leeds as his struggling… Read more

Ennislusc Off Again To Elland Road

It's all systems to for the first Ennnislusc trip to Elland Road where the The Whites will take on Rotherham and endeavoring to complete three wins in a row which will be awesome considering the season we are having. It's ironic that when theses twu teams met in the last game of the season Steve Evans was the Rotherham manager and Neil Redfearn was the Leeds manager and now the roles are reversed, says it all about the turmoil at Elland Road.

This won't bother the hardy souls of Ennislusc who have been planning this trip for months and credit to Kevin Barry for organising the return bus to Dublin Airport and to Nugs for sorting the accommodation. Kevin reckons the will be in The Clayton Hotel ( formerly Bewley's) for Happy Hour on Friday evening and no dount Peter Lormier's bar will get a visit. Incidentally John Galvin Tommy… Read more

Congratulations Alan On Your New Role

After nearly two years of heartbreak where our good colleague and Leeds fanatic Alan Murphy tore his Achilles tendon in a charity soccer match in the Fairgreen and as a result lost his job things have taken a turn for the better. On Monday next Alan will start a new job with the HSE in St Josephs Hospital Ennis and all his friends in Ennislusc would like to wish him well in his new role. The patients will benefit hugely from Alan's sense of humour and kindness and for sure they will all know about Leeds United. Good Luck from all at Ennislusc , Alan.

Back To Back Wins For Leeds

Huddersfield Town 0 Leeds United 3

One can't always read into stats and in this case where The Terriers had sixty three per cent possession and nineteen shots on goal this was certainly true as Leeds ran out comfortable winners in this Yorkshire derby.

It is now back-to-back wins in the Championship for Leeds and a great start to life as manager for Steve Evans five games in charge. After a dire first-half Leeds took the lead in stoppage when Mirco Antenucci poked United in front from six yards. The ball was hardly kicked off when Leeds doubled their lead in the sixth minute of injury time when Chris Wood slotted home. The reason for all the stoppage time was due to a clash of heads between Liam Cooper and Scott Wootton with Cooper being stretchered off to hospital.

For the second time in five days Alex Mowatt struck a stunning long-range… Read more

Happy 75th Birthday Johnny Giles

Today the legend John Giles celebrates his 75th birthday and how we would love to have his likes still playing at Elland Road. As we all know John has been very loyal to our club coming down to the Mike Mac Golf Classic on three consecutive years and making many friends in the process. The club sent him a text and card from all the members to celebrate this milestone and typical of the man he rang today to pass on his thanks to everyone for their good wishes. Enjoy the day John and we hope to see you down in Ennis in the New Year. Marching On Together

Heartless And Gutless Display

Leeds United 0 Blackburn Rovers 2

Just when the loyal Leeds faithful thought it couldn't get any worse they were treated to what can only be described as the most inept display ever from a home team on the hallow field of Elland Road. New manager Steve Evans was expecting to over see a first home win since last March,a run of 11 home league games without a win but he was sadly mistaken.

Going a goal behind after 17 seconds left the home crowd in shock but five minutes later they were two behind and the game was a but over.Early goals from Craig Conway and Jordan Rhodes helped Blackburn beat fellow strugglers Leeds at Elland Road.

Conway put Blackburn in front after 17 seconds, firing Chris Taylor's cross into the bottom corner after being left unmarked at the back post.Jordan Rhodes doubled the lead on six minutes as he… Read more

Evans Still Waiting For First Win

Bolton Wanderers 1 Leeds United 1

Mirco Antenucci's penalty on 71 minutes helped Leeds earn a draw at 10-man Bolton and left Steve Evans frustrated at not earning the three points. Shola Ameobi who only signed on loan with Bolton on Friday gave the Trotters the lead as he volleyed in Jose Casado's corner on 32 minutes. Earlier Tom Adeyemi hit the post for Leeds but it was Bolton who dominated in a poor first half.

Neil Lennon's side who are routed to the bottom of the table were punished after Prince Gouano was shown red for fouling Antenucci in the box and he scored the resultant spot kick. Despite dominating the remaining twenty minutes Leeds failed to break down a stubborn Bolton defence. Along with waiting for his first win Steve Evans is also looking for his sides first goal from open play since he took over as both Leeds… Read more

Finally A Manager Who Plays Two Up Front

Fulham 1 Leeds United 1

Steve Evans began his managerial reign at Leeds United with a well deserved draw as Chris Wood's second-half penalty secured a point at Craven Cottage. Leeds sixth manager in 18 months can feel well disappointed as United dominated the game but found Fulham's keeper Joe Lewis in tremendous form gaining him the Man Of Match Award.

Moussa Dembele gave Fulham the lead on 23 minutes against the run of play with a superb solo effort. However he became the villain on 64 minutes when he handled in the area following a corner and Chris Wood's scored from the spot. Indeed Lewis got his hand to the kick and can feel very unlucky not to have kept it out.

At least it stopped the rot after three successive defeats and from the fans point of view Evans played a very positive 4-4-2 formation with Woods and… Read more

Rosler Gets The Sack,Steve Evans To Take Charge

And so the merry go round starts once again at Leeds and we are the laughing stock of the football league once again. Owner Massimo Cellino seeks his sixth manager since he took over in April last year following the departure of Brian McDermott, Dave Hockaday, Darko Milanic and Neil Redfearn. Rosler was relieved of his duties today after recording just two wins in 11 league matches since his appointment in the summer.

Scotsman Steve Evans is the favourite to take charge as he took training at Torp Arch this morning. He is the ex Rotherham boss who appeared at Elland Road for the last game of the season in a sombrero, shorts and flip flops following a bet he made once his team avoided relegation to League 1.He is an outspoken boss who will need all his guile if he's to have any say with Cellinio. Unwanted Record For Leeds

Leeds United 1 Brighton 2

Uwe Rosler's men have now won just one of their last six matches and are winless in their last 11 home games which is a new club record. Suffice to say the knives will be out for Rosler after this disappointing performance.

Leeds started very well before Beram Kayal played March through on goal and the 21-year-old kept his composure to score his first of the season inside the first 15 minutes. The Whites responded well and got a deserved equaliser in the 23rd minute when Cooper flicked Alex Mowatt's free-kick beyond Seagulls keeper David Stockdale.

Brighton dominated on the possession stakes and with 14 shots on target to Leeds 6 they deservedly got the winner on 89 mins. Substitute Bobby Zamora's goal helped them extend their lead at the top to four points and heap more misery on an already under pressure Rosler.

Townies Celebrate Jubilee Success

It's all of 25 years since Eire Og hurlers brought the Canon Hamilton back to the town and on Sunday next in Cusack Park the team will be honoured at half time in the senior final. On that infamous day The Townies beat The Mills 1-5 to 1-03 in what in truth was a dire game. If my memory serves me well The Mills missed a lot of scores in the first half with their free taker Tim Canny in particular being off target. The turning point was Pete Barry's goal into the Aldi end six minutes into the second half which drove The Townies on to their six and last county title. One of the stars of the team was 17 year old Tomas Corbett who went on to captain St Flannan's to Harty and Croke Cup title the following year.

Bad Day At The Office

Leeds United 0 Birmingham City 2

Uwe Rosler could not hide his disappointment after another abject performance at Elland Road which leaves him still seeking his first home win in the Championship. Leeds have now not won at home in the league in seven months which is a damning statistic.

The Blues took the lead on 31 minutes when Clayton Donaldson deflected Stephen Gleeson's ball to Demarai Gray who gave Silvestri no chance with a rocket of a shot from ten yards. It was no more than Birmingham deserved as they dominated a poor first half. However Leeds could have equalised through Northern Ireland winger Stuart Dallas who's curling effort was palmed away by Blues keeper Tomasz Kuszczak.

The game was long over before Jacques Maghoma put the icing on the cake for the Blues with a goal in the first minute of injury time. The early season promise from Leeds has long… Read more

Reality Bites For Rosler

Middlesbrough 3 Leeds United 0

Without doubt this was a huge reality check for Rosler and his team as the found out just how far short they are as Championship contenders. Boro simply over ran them in every department and it's easy to see why they are favorites for promotion. After only two minutes David Nugent fired Boro in front from close range for his third goal in four games. Then on thirty two minutes calamitous defending by Leeds defender Giuseppe Bellusci who produced a diving header to divert George Friend's cross into his own net.

Mirco Antenucci who was in for the injured Chris Woods saw an effort ruled out harshly for offside which would have given Leeds a glimmer of hope. Before that Alex Mowatt saw a free-kick tipped over the bar but that was as good as it got for The Whites. Boro sealed all three points on eighty… Read more

Eight Minutes Of Torture But Welcome Three Points

MK Dons 1 Leeds United 2

Ennislusc stalwart and recently married James Barry spent an anxious afternoon at Stadium.mk as his beloved Whites endured eight anxious minutes of injury time before finally claiming the points. As James says We don't do easy and so right he is but at this stage it's par for the course as a Leeds supporter.

The Dons dominated the opening half an hour with Rob Hall, Carl Baker and Josh Murphy all shooting wide and totally against the run of play United took the lead. Baker brought down Charlie Taylor on 31 minutes for a stone wall penalth and up stepped Chris Wood to send David Martin the wrong way for his fourth goal in six games. Then two minutes before half time Taylor made it 2-0 when his left foot rocked fro just inside the box nestled in the bottom corner.

The Tractor Boys End Unbeaten Run

Leeds United 0 Ipswich Town 1

Marco Silvestri gifted Mike McCarty's men a victory when he completely missed a corner he came to punch and New Zealand International defender Tommy Smith gratefully accepted the gift to head home. Uwe Rosler's team had drawn five of their opening six Championship matches but lost to promotion hopefuls Ipswich at Elland Road for the first time since 2005.

It was another poor performance from Leeds following Saturday's draw with Brentford and the wheels seem to be coming off the wagon earlier than we anticipated. On 82 minutes Leeds felt aggrieved when the referee booked Sam Byram for a dive when he went down in the area under pressure from Jonas Knudsen.TV replays show Sam had a good claim for a spot kick but in truth it would have only glossed over another inept performance. Leeds are now 14th in the Championship table after a very… Read more
