Superb Display Sees Leeds Up To 4th

Bristol City 0 Leeds United 3

Thomas Christensen dropped a bombshell before kick off dropping inspirational centre back and fan favourite Pontus Jansson and replacing him with Everton loanee Matthew Pennington. Whatever about the pros and cons of that decision it certainly worked the oracle for Leeds as they put and end to Bristol City's 12-match unbeaten run and are now back up to fourth in the table. Ashton Gate is never an easy place to visit and considering the home team had only conceded three league goals at home this season this was a tremendous results for The Whites.

Samuel Saiz's seventh and eight goal this season in the fourth and fourteenth minute put Leeds in the driving seat and gave the team some much needed confidence early on. His first shot deflecting past Bristol keeper Frank Fielding and his seconded came after a defensive error. On loan Hamburg striker… Read more

Dire Penalty Miss Sums Up The Display

Leeds United 0 Reading 1

Reading goalkeeper Vito Mannone saved an injury-time penalty from Pablo Hernandez to consign Leeds to a first home defeat of the season ans inflict their third League defeat in a row. This was a terribly disappointing performance before the biggest crowd of the season and with five players booked Leeds will also suffer a fine from the FA. To add insult to injury it was an ex Leeds loanee Modou Barrow who won the game for Jaap Stam's team with a cool finish on 85 minutes.

It was only in the last ten minutes that this came to life and before the goal Andy Lonergan who was preferred to Wiedwald in goal made a cracking save from Barrow but could do nothing with the shot that beat him. However Leeds got a get out of jail opportunity when Samu Saiz was taken down in the box… Read more

Yorkshire Derby Nightmare

Sheffield Wednesday 3 Leeds United

Ex Celtic striker Gary Hooper hit two first half goals to help The Owels inflict a third defeat in four league games on a very disappointing Leeds side. This was one of the worst performances from a Leeds side in many a day and certainly brings the fans down to earth after a great start to the season.

Both of Hooper's goals in the 25th and 41st minute were close-range finishes from knockdowns in the box and he could have had a hat-trick but hit the bar in second-half stoppage time. Ex Leeds United loan player Barry Bannan pulled the strings in midfield and Leeds couldn't cope with his incisive runs which set up two of Wednesday's three goals.

Kieran Lee hit a cracker from 30 yards for Wednesday's third and end a humiliating day for Thomas Christiansen and company. Pierre-Michel Lasogga hit the post for… Read more

Reality Check For Leeds

Cardiff City 3 Leeds United 1

The Bluebirds gave a super display to knock Leeds off the top of the table and gave Thomas Christiansen some headaches before next Sunday's televised Yorkshire derby with Sheffield Wednesday. They will also be without captain Liam Cooper who was rightly sent off for a ridiculous second booking just on the stroke of half time at which stage Leeds were already two down.

Cardiff lead at the break thanks to Kenneth Zohore's close-range finish and a thumping 20-yard strike from ex Queens Park Ranger striker Junior Hoilett who won the Man Of The Match Award. It got worse for Leeds as Zohore tapped in Cardiff's third but Roofe's deflected effort was scant consolation for a dreadful performance from The Whites

Leeds Dodge A Bullet Says McCarthy

Leeds United 3 Ipswich Town 2

After a dream start Leeds were left hanging on to gain a valuable win and stay top of the Championship. On loan Hamburg striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga who is quickly becoming a fans favourite put the hosts in front on thirteen minutes with a great finish from just inside the box. It was just the start Leeds wanted in front of a massive home crowd but on thirty minutes David McGoldric headed in unchallenged from six yards. This had Leeds reeling but two minutes later Kalvin Phillips came racing in at the back post to send Ellland Road into raptures.

The three points looked safe on sixty seven minutes when The Tractors Boy's goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski dropped a Pablo Hernandez corner over his own line when he was totally unchallenged. However as we all know Leeds like to keeoer their supporters on tenter hooks and… Read more

Gentleman John Finn

It was with deep sadness that we learned early this morning that our great friend and Ennislusc member John Finn had gone to his eternal rest following a short illness. For many of us the first place we met John was when we entered St Flannan's College and stepped into his Irish class. Now Irish wasn't my strongest subject and I wasn't alone but John made it fun and enjoyable and unlike many other classes this was one you would look forward to. He was an excellent teacher and long after many of us left Flannan's we got to know John, the family man, golfer, drama player and above all Leeds United fan.

He wandered down one evening to Moroney's Bar, home of Ennislusc along with his good friend and ex Flannan's colleague Joe Hestor to watch a live Leeds United game. As he often told me it was in trepidation… Read more

Still Top Despite Defeat

Milwall 1 Leeds United 0

All good things come to an end and at The Den on Saturday Leeds succumbed to their first league defeat of the season against a dominant Milwall team who well deserved their victory. This was The Lions eight win in their previous nine league games at home to Leeds so this victory comes as n surprise. It was a very poor performance from Leeds and to compound the result Pontus Jannson limped off with a hamstring injury on 82 minutes and could not be replaced as all the substitutes had been used.

Aiden O'Brien scored the only goal on 73 minutes from a goalmouth scramble and no one could begrudge Neil Harris's men the victory. Leeds had not ONE shot on goal which tells it's own story. It is how The Whites bounce back from this defeat which will tells us how good this squad… Read more

Believe It Or Not Top Of The Table

Leeds United 2 Birmingham City 0

Leeds are back on top of the table for the first time since January 2010 when they topped League One and this was all the more pleasing as it was a dogged win. While playing well below recent standards it was an excellent three points and with Cardiff losing away to Preston it propelled The Whites to top of the table. Leeds resilience saw them extend their unbeaten start to the season to nine games, while goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald has kept clean sheets in each of his past six league games.

Goals from Samuel Saiz ( his 6th in 8 games since joining in the summer) on 17 minutes and a 92 minute injury strike from Northern Ireland International Stuart Dallas had the home fans in seventh heaven. Marching On Together reverberated around Elland Road as a crowd of 31,507 celebrated a night to be… Read more

Unbelievable Jeff, What A Performance

Leeds United 5 Burton Albion 0

When the Ennislusc members deciding on going to Elland Road for the Burton game never in their wildest dreams did they expect to see such a scintillating game. One could only be blown away watching the highlights but I'm sure many of the Ennislusc traveling squad will give their personal views on the game during the week on the club guest book when they have sufficiently recovered.

On loan Hamburg striker Pierre Michel-Lasogga scored twice on his debut to help Leeds extend their unbeaten start to the season to eight games. However it was the manner of the performance that has every Leeds fans on a high and we are nearly afraid to dream now such have been the false dawns over the last ten years.
Leeds scored their first goal on 20 minutes when Lasogga's shot from the edge of the box to… Read more

Ennislusc Heading To Elland Road

It's that time of the year again when 16 members of Ennnislusc head to Elland Road for their first trip of the new season and this year it's a first for the club seeing Nigel Clough's Burton Albion in action. Their is a great buzz around The White's this season with 16 new signings and a new manager in Thomas Christiansen taking charge not to mention the sale of 20,000 season tickets so the atmosphere at Elland Road should be electric.

On this trip there will be two new Ennislusc members heading to Elland Road and all at the club hope that Bryan Williams and his girlfriend Orla Moroney enjoy the experience. At least on this occasion Bryan who is a Wolf Tones ns Sionna hurling supporter and Orla is a passionate O Callaghan's Mills supporter will be on the same side of the fence. Recently both clubs clashed in… Read more

Superb Performance KO's Forest

Nottingham Forest 0 Leeds United 2

Without doubt this was one of the best performances by a Leeds team in many a long year and it was not only the three points that gladdened the heart but the manner of the performance. Superb passing football and a fourth clean sheet in a row sees Leeds now up to third in the Championship. We also got a glimpse of new Dutch signing Jay Rot Grot who looks like an excellent buy and is a physical imposing player.

Kemar Roofe who scored a hat-trick against Newport in the EFL Cup on Tuesday headed in following a free kick that was headed on to him by captain Liam Cooper. Forest who started well were on the back foot for the rest of the half as Leeds dominated proceedings. Forest did improve after the break but it was Leeds who looked the more likely to… Read more

Sparkling Performance On Wearside

Sunderland 0 Leeds United 2

The news broke two hours before kick off that top scorer from last season Chris Woods would not be lining out for Leeds as he would be heading off to Turf Moor on Sunday for a medical pending his £15 million transfer. While initially every Leeds supporter was bitterly disappointed it actually proved a blessing in disguise as the players pulled together and put in a superb performance.

It also insured that Leeds maintained their unbeaten start under new boss Thomas Christiansen while inflicting a first loss on ex Leeds manger Simon Grayson who now manages The Black Cats. Leeds went ahead on 21 minutes when Samuel Saiz's shot from 12 yards following a superb pass from Man Of The Match Alioski. Just thirty seconds prior to Leeds going ahead Liam Cooper made a miraculous save heading Lewis Grabban's shot on to the crossbar and into… Read more

Another Dour Scoreless Draw Disappoints The Fans

Leeds United 0 Fulham 0

Leeds and Fulham maintained their unbeaten starts to the season with a hard-fought draw at Elland Road. The Cottagers had the better of the first half with Aboubakar Kamara's going close and Ibrahima Cisse striking the post with a shot from 25 yards. The stats show that Fulham had 56 per cent possession and had 15 shots to Leeds 9 which tells it's own story.

For the second home game running Chris Woods failed to score a one on one with keeper David Button saving. One has to think has all this talk of a mega money transfer effected his performances. With reports saying his salary at Elland Road is £8,000 p.w. where as the average weekly wage in The Premiership is five times that amount so it's easy to see his head could be turned. Leeds keeper Felix Wiedwald made a brilliant one on… Read more

Lot Of Optimism Shattered With This Showing

Leeds United 0 Preston North End 0

Leeds were frustrated by ten man Preston after Ben Pearson was dismissed for his second yellow card on 60 minutes. With a massive home crowd of 32,880 in attendance for the first home game of the season it was a terribly disappointing result and one that could have been a lot worse as Preston hit the woodwork on 90 minutes with keeper Felix Wiedwald getting a touch to Harrop's shoot and tipping it n to the crossbar.

Leeds striker Chris Wood had a number of chances including a one on one with Preston keeper Maxwell that he failed to convert. It was the first time Leeds had failed to score since 17 April, having scored seven goals in their opening two games this season. Fulham are next up for United at Elland Road on Tuesday night and a better performance will be demanded and… Read more

Super Start But Back Line Needs Strengthening

Bolton Wanderers 2 Leeds United 3

New Leeds head coach Thomas Christiansen got off to a fantastic start but had to endure a shaky last twenty minutes before securing the three points. Academy product Kalvin Phillips gave The Whites the dream start scoring on seven minutes from a training ground corner routine. Hernandez took the corner to the edge of the area and Kalvin curled a beauty into the top corner.

Things got better for Leeds on thirty minutes when last season's top scorer Chris Wood headed home from a header back into the box from new signing Alioski. This was dream land for the 5,000 traveling Leeds fans but Bolton pulled one back on 39 minutes through a Gary Madine header. New keeper Wiedwald failed to come from the cross and while he's good with the ball on the deck he's like all foreign keepers when it comes to crosses.… Read more

Great Expectations For New Season

On Sunday evening at 16.30 Leeds will kick off their Championship season live on Sky Sports away to Bolton Wanderers and after a frantic summer in the transfer window where six new players were sign ( Alioski, Saiz, Anita, Ekuban, Klich, Wiedwald ) along with on loan Ronaldo Vieira and Pontus Jansson given full contracts. In fairness to new owner Andrea Radrizzani he has been a breath of fresh air and has fulfilled all his promises to date including buying back Elland Road from the local Council.

He took a big gamble in appointing Thomas Christiansen as manager from Cypriot club Apoel but to date one has to be extremely happy with his outgoing personality and his signings. The owner expects a top six finish while the fans expectations are of automatic promotion. It's been a long time since there has been such positivity around Leeds United and isn't it… Read more

The Dream Is Over For This Year

Leeds United 3 Norwich City 3

Well the dream of the play offs was all but over after 45 minutes with Leeds 0-3 down and although Chris Woods grabbed a goal back in first half injury time, a miracle was needed if they were to turn the game around. Their brave effort just came up short and with Fulham only drawing at home to Bradford, Leeds needed a win to bring the dream of a play off place to the last game of the season. A shell shocking first half did all the damage to Gary Monk's dreams of a shot at returning to the The Premiership but hopefully and more importantly the club will reward him with a long term contract for his tremendous efforts this season.

After losing our opening fixture 3-0 to QPR little did we think that we would be challenging for a top six position so… Read more

Ennislusc Off To Elland Road For Crucial Fixture

This morning 11 members of Ennislusc will head to Leeds for the last home game of the season against Norwich City. When the trip was initially being planned Leeds were firmly in the top six but after last weeks defeat to Burton they have dropped to seventh and now a play off finish is out of their hands. However a win will heap pressure on Fulham who are home to Brentford a team that has caused them trouble in the past.

We wish the travelling squad of Mike Jones,Bryan Woody,Marty Brennan, Seamus and Shane Doherty, Leon Quirke, Richie Lynch, Kevin Barry,John Galvin, Steve and Jane Underwood a great weekend and hopefully three priceless points. Marching On Together

Play Off Dream Out Of Our Hands

Burton 2 Leeds United 1

In a game that had huge repercussions to both clubs depending on the result it was Burton Albion who won the laurels and secured Championship football for a second season. Unfortunately for Leeds with both Fulham and Sheffield Wednesday winning it now means Leeds are three points off the play offs with two games remaining. While Gary Monk said it was very hard on his team considering they dominated possession and were undone by a goal against the run of play, the truth is Leeds were toothless up front.

On 75 minutes Marvin Sordell scored for The Brewers and it was like the wind was taken out of the Leeds players. Then two minutes later the day just became a disaster as Michael Kightly scored a second.Leeds hit back within three minutes through Kyle Bartley following a flick on from Chris Woods but despite constant… Read more
