Late Drama Not Good For The Heart

Leeds United 3 Blackburn Rovers 2

Write Leeds off at your pearl after an unbelievable comeback from the jaws of defeat at Elland Road. When ex Celtic star Charlie Mulgrew struck a free kick on the 90th minute, his second set piece of the game to give Blackburn the lead the game looked up for the home side. However this teams never say die attitude say them did deep with Kemar Roofe hitting a 91st minute equaliser to send the home crowd into raptures. Raya, the Rovers keeper had made a super double save but when the ball popped out to Roofe six yard out he made no mistake.

However thing were to get even better when on 94 minutes Roofe headed the winner having also scored Leeds's 95th-minute winner at Aston Villa four days previously. Rovers had taken the lead two minutes after half time when Ayling took down… Read more

Thriller At Villa

Aston Villa 2 Leeds United 3

What a game, what and ending and top of the table for Christmas. Every Leeds fan can now dare to dream of a return to The Premiership. Yes we are only half way through the season but this team has shown resilience, heart and some skill to give us reasons to be optimistic for the coming months.

After a disastrous opening twenty minutes where Villa raced into a 2-0 lead it looked like Leeds were on the way to another drubbing in the Midlands. Tammy Abraham put Villa ahead on five minutes with a close-range finish set up by John McGinn. On seventeen minutes Irish International Conor Hourihane curled in a beautiful left foot shot into the bottom corner of Peacock-Farrell's net.

However Leeds didn't lie down and on fifty six minutes second half substitute struck Jack Clarke hit a stunning right-foot curler for… Read more

It was a class finish by the £7 million signing from Middlesbrough which was set up by Pablo Hernandez.

Leeds dominated possession but found it hard to create clear cut chances until Bamford's introduction. Marcelo Bielsa's side have now gone five games unbeaten since the drubbing a West Brom and look serious promotion contenders now.

Finally A Penalty For Leeds

Leeds United 2 Queens Park Rangers 1

Kemar Roofe's scored his 10th goal of the season on fifty three minutes after Leeds were awarded a penalty for the first time in 59 games, a run stretching back to October 2017. Leeds dominated the first half and should have been at least two goals to the good but instead found themselves a goal down. Nahki Wells put The R's ahead on twenty six minutes when he nicked the ball past Pontus Jansson and scored with a left-foot shot.

In the third minute of injury time in the first half Roofe scored from close range to lift the muted home crowd. Eight minutes in the second half Toni Leistner was penalised for handball in the area and Roofe converted the spot kick. Whites keeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell tipped over a shot from Jake Bidwell in the closing stages as Marcelo Bielsa's side held on… Read more

Finally A Win A Bramall Lane

Sheffield United 0 Leeds United 1

Leeds gained their first victory at Bramall Lane since 1992 thanks to a defensive error by Blades keeper Dean Henderson. With the game delicately balanced Irish International John Egan over hit his back pass and in trying to keep the ball from going for a corner he hit the ball straight into the path of Leeds Jack Clarke. He squared the ball and Pablo Hernandez had the simplest task of side footing to the net. This victory sent Leeds to the top until Norwich's home victory in the afternoon sent them back to the summit.

This only spurred The Blades on and with time running out ex QPR striker Conor Washington hit the crossbar with an over head kick. Earlier ex Leeds striker Billy Sharp who has haunted The Whites since his transfer headed over a fine chance. Kemar Roofe had Leeds best chance… Read more

Peacock-Farrell To The Rescue

Leeds United 1 Reading 0

Leeds dug out a hard earned win at Elland Road and had keeper Bradley Peacock-Farrell to thank with a fantastic late penalty save for all three points. The Whites are now up to second, one point behind leaders Norwich City. Northern Ireland International Stuart Dallas tapped home on the hour from close range after Kemar Roofe had been denied by super defending from Liam Moore and Chris Gunter.

With time running out Reading were awarded a penalty when Barry Douglas was penalised for bringing down Josh Sims on the edge of the area. Marc McNulty had his penalty after Bailey Peacock-Farrell dived low to his right to bring off an excellent saved much to the delight of the home crowd. Marcelo Bielsa's side have now won four of their past five home matches and this is the form that is needed if they are to stay in… Read more

Sending Off Changed The Game

Leeds United 2 Bristol City 0

Leeds started the game with two twenty year old debutantes in goalkeeper Will Huffer and Finnish U21 International Aapo Halme. Both acquitted themselves extremely well and can be well pleased with their performance. However it was only after Bristol went down to 10 men that Leeds despite having the lions share of possession looked threatening. The game was evenly balanced before Brownhill who was booked on 20 minutes for a foul on Ezgjan Aliosk, was then sent off for a foul on Roofe.

On sixty nine minutes Kemar Roofe scored his eight goal of the season and Pablo Hernandez made sure of the points on eighty six minnutes with a cushioned header. The win only papers over the cracks and with the way teams set up to hit Leeds on the counter attack we are sadly lacking an out and out striker. All the… Read more

Reality Check For Bielsa And Leeds

West Bromwich Albion 4 Leeds United 1

Having seventy two percent possession doesn't mean a thing if you can't translate that into goals. With only three shots on goal over the ninety minutes tells it's own story that we need a Chris Woods type centre forward if we are to have any desires of promotion this season. The Baggies scored four second-half goals in a demolition job that was embarrassing for the travelling Leeds supporters.

Having lived dangerously in the first half Leeds went behind when Robson-Kanu drilled low into the corner on fifty one minutes. Sixteen minutes later
Matt Phillips beat Bailey Peacock-Farrell from outside the area to double the home side's advantage. This in all truth was one that the keeper wo't be happy with when he sees it back. Unfortunately he's been prone to mistakes and perhapsit's time to give Blackman his chance between the sticks.

Top Of The Championship

Wigan Athletic 1 Leeds United 2

Leeds recovered from going a goal behind to beat The Lactics and go back to the top of the Championship. It was an emotional day at the DW Stadium with the Whelan family set to transfer their controlling stake in the club after 23 years in charge to Hong Kong-based International Entertainment Corporation during the next week.
Wigan went ahead after only six minutes when Reece James curled in a free-kick that Bailey Peacock didn't cover himself in glory with his efforts to keep out. With the game live on Sky he certainly won't want to rewind that goal.

Leeds were level three minutes later when Pablo Hernandez tapped in from close range much to the delight of the 1,500 travelling support. This spurred the Whites on as the knowledge of a win would put them top of the table. One minute into the second half… Read more

Roofe's Arm The Saviour For Leeds

Leeds United 1 Nottingham Forest 1

The positive thing to take from yesterday's game is the travelling Ennislusc squad saw the Whites dominate the game with seventy one per cent possession and 18 shots on goal to Forest's three but in the end it took a blatant hand ball to give them a share of the spoils. Kemar Roofe controversially scored with his arm on 83 minutes something which he admitted in his after match interview. He diverted Mateusz Klich's cross in with his arm at the far post but referee Geoff Eltringham after consulting with his assistant before giving the goal. As one can imagine the Forest players and management were up in arms and justifiably so but the goal stood. If it had happened the other way around the words of the Kaiser Chiefs come to mind 'I predict a riot ' with the Leeds fans going epileptic.

Back On Top

Leeds United 2 Ipswich Town 0

Leeds returned to the top of the Championship with a facile win over bottom club Ipswich Town. They were boosted by the return of Spanish playmaker Hernandez who was making his first start since 25 August after a hamstring injury and gave a Man Of The Match performance. It was just the tonic that Leeds needed and his presence in the side is immeasurable. Leeds went ahead on 22 minutes when Kemar Roofe headed in from Pablo Hernandezs brilliant cross.

Captain Liam Cooper hit a brilliant side foot effort following a corner on 66 minutes to make it 2-0 and in truth finished the game. Ipswich rarely troubled the home defence and would have lost by more but for Ezgjan Alioski's ferocious strike coming back off the inside of the post and Bartosz Bialkowski's fine save from Adam Forshaw's shot.

With WBA losing at home to… Read more

This weekend Ennislusc will embark on their annual trip to Elland Road with the biggest group to travel to the holy grail since 2010. It's an early rise as many will be meeting at the West County at 4.55am to travel to Shannon Airport. It's a tribute to the club that there are 36 travelling to Elland Road for the game vs Nottingham Forest and the fact the Leeds are top of The Championship only whets the appetite.

No other supporters club in the region even those supporting the top Premiership teams can boast this number traveling across the water for a game that's being shown live on Sky Sports. On the trip will be Oisin Murphy who will be making his first ever trip to Elland Road and on his birthday as well.Least we forget Caroline Jones will be also making her first trip but this time as Mrs… Read more

Achilles Heels Set Pieces Back To Haunt Leeds

Blackburn Rovers 2 Leeds United 1

Leeds missed the chance to return to the top of the Championship table after succumbing to defeat at Ewood Park to recently promoted Rovers. This was a lackluster performance from Bielsa's side who looked anything but promotion hopefuls. The Riversiders took the lead inside two minutes when when Danny Graham headed Harrison Reed's corner past goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell. Set pieces have been a major problem for Leeds this season and they didn't heed the warning.

Backed by more than 7,700 travelling supporters, they had something to cheer about in first half stoppage time as a superb team move started by Samuel Saiz and finished by Mateusz Klich saw Leeds equalise. One would have thought they would push on in the second half but once again the fell behind to a second corner kick. On seventy minutes Darragh Lenihan rose above Pontus Jannson to nod home… Read more

Pontus To The Rescue

Leeds United 1 Brentford 1

Swedish International Pontus Jansson headed an 88th-minute equaliser from a free kick to earn Leeds a well deserved point against the high flying Bees. The home side fell behind to a dubious penalty awarded against Bailey Peacpck-Farrell for a foul on Ollie Watkins. With the game live on Sky Sports all in the pundits in the studio said it was not a penalty with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink saying he could see how it was awarded even though in his opinion it was not a spot kick. However Neal Maupay dispatched the penalty on 62 minutes and from here on to the finish Leeds bombarded the visitors goal.

With four minutes remaining the home crowd got their wishes when Jansson headed home Ezgjan Alioski's left-wing free-kick. However in his post match interview he made comments on the referee robbing Leeds which he'll have to answer shortly to… Read more

Tyler Puts Leeds Back On Top

Hull City 0 Leeds United 1

Leeds went back to the top of the Championship with a deserved win at the KCOM Stadium over The Tigers. Victory for The Whites was their first in three matches and Hull City manager Neil Atkins said in his after match press conference that they played against one of the best teams I've seen in The Championship for many years. High praise indeed but a long way to go yet so we have to keep our feet firmly on the ground.

Leeds had chances in the first half to go ahead through Ezgjan Alioski and Barry Douglas but both failed to hit the target.Leeds took the lead on fifty one minutes when Tyler Roberts hit a daisy cutter from outside the area for his third goal of the season. He's been a brilliant deputy for the injured Kamer Roofe and one looks forward to both of… Read more

Excellent Performance Warranted All Three Points

Sheffield Wednesday 1 Leeds United 1

The Sky TV cameras saw an exhilarating performance from Bielsa's Leeds but unfortunately not the three points it deserved. The visitors had 25 shots on goal and sixty three percent of possession but couldn't get the crucial second goal against their Yorkshire neighbours.

Against the run of play Adam Reach gave the Owls the lead with a stunning shot on the stroke of half time. It was one of those wonder strikes that will live in the memory for a long time even for Leeds fans. However Mateusz Klich equaliser on fifty four minutes was equally spectacular and the Polish International has been in superb for for The Whites this season.

Leeds almost snatched a late winner when Samu Saiz just failed by inches to latched on to Jack Harrison's brilliant cross. It may be looked as two points dropped but if performances like this are… Read more

Leeds Feel The Blues

Leeds United 1 Birmingham City 2

Ex Leeds United manager Gary Monk returned to Elland Road and inflicted a first league defeat on new boss Marcelo Bielsa. The Argentinian says his side "paid a high price for a tactical mistake" as the Championship leader dropped valuable points at home.

Che Adams low shot in the third minute beat Leeds keeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell at his near post. It this wasn't enough to shock the home side into action they went behind again on 29 minutes when Adams got his second following a swift counter attack. Leeds pulled one back on 85 minutes through Ezgjan Alioski but it was too little to late.

It was The Whites worst performance of the season and hopefully they can only learn from this bitter experience as they played second fiddle to Birmingham for the majority of the game.

Tyler Shows His Class

Leeds United 3 Preston North End 0

This has to go down as the best display of the season to date for Marcelo Bielsa side who were without three regular starters and their big money buy this season Patrick Bamford. Added to that
the victory against the only team who had beaten them this season ended a run of two successive draws and further enhanced Leeds promotion credentials.

Starting his successive game Tyler Roberts scored his first two goals for Leeds United and looks to be a real prospect. We have waited over eight months to see him perform since signing him from WBA as he was injured in his first training session after signing on.Leeds dominated the first half and took the lead on 37 minutes took when centre-half Liam Cooper headed in from a Barry Douglas corner.

The home side had numerous chances to add to their tally with Polish International… Read more

Fighting Spirit Shown In Abundance

Millwall 1 Leeds United 1

Leeds had to battle hard to snatch a point at the death and keep their unbeaten run in the Championship alive. On eight of their previous ten visits to The Den, Leeds have tasted defeat so to snatch a point with time nearly up feels like a win considering the injury list at present.

On loan Man City starlet Jack Harrison's goal on 89 minutes earned Leeds a deserved point and it was also great to see Tyler Roberts start up front for the first time after all his injury woes.
Ezgjan Alioski heading narrowly wide early in the first half and Ben Amos saving well to deny Tyler Roberts a debut goal

Millwall took the lead on 55 minutes when Jed Wallace fired in off the post after the Leeds defence failed to clear a long throw. Then
Amos reacted superbly to keep out Luke Ayling's… Read more
