Unbelieveable Performance From Leeds

Leeds United 4 West Bromwich Albion 0

The Baggies had won eight of their previous nine away games but came unstuck to a scintillating performance from a superb Leeds. Pablo Hernandez scored after just 16 seconds with a superb strike from 25 yards as The Whites put on the performance of the season. Anyone watching the game live on Sky Sports could not have but been majorily impressed as the blew away their Championship rivals.

On 28 minutes Leeds doubled their lead when Patrick Bamford showed brilliant skill to slot past Sam Johnstone following a through ball from ex Albion forward Tyler Roberts. Bamford was on the score sheet again on 63 minutes when his effort was deflected home off an Albion defender. The icing on the cake came in injury time when Ezgjan Alioski tapped home following an excellent cross from young Jamie Shackleton. Marcelo Bielsa's side move a point… Read more

Knocked Out By The R's

Queens Park Rangers 1 Leeds United 0

Once again Leeds went to Loftus Road and came away empty handed. On the 6th of January The Whites were knocked out of the FA Cup by the R's and 6 weeks later they stooped Leeds going back to the top of The Championship courtesy of Luke Freeman.
QPR ended a run of seven straight league defeats with Freeman hitting the winner on 49 minutes with a neat finish from close range.

Patrick Bamford and Stuart Dallas both brought excellent saves from R's goalkeeper Joe Lumley but as always despite oceans of possession Leeds couldn't find a way passed an excellent Rangers defence. London has not been a happy hunting ground for Leeds in the last few years and perhaps tonight they slightly underestimated the opposition given their recent poor run.

Not Pretty But Three Points

Leeds United 2 Bolton Wanderers 1

Leeds got off to a tonic start when Patrick Bamford put Bielsa's side in front from the spot on 16 minutes after Tyler Roberts was fouled in the box by Pawel Olkowski. However six minutes later The Trotters equalised when Mark Beevers forced a loose ball home after David Wheater's header from a corner was cleared off the line.

Leeds got the luck break the deserved on 68 minutes when Bolton keeper Remi Matthews misjudged Ezgjan Alioski's cross which flew over his head and into the net off the off the crossbar. To add insult to injury for Bolton their boss Phil Parkinson was sent to the stands after a incident on the touchline. In the end Leeds's eked out a result which is all that's required at this stage of the season.

Birthday Boy Pontus Put Leeds Back On Top

Leeds United 2 Swansea City

Leeds United's Swedish defender Pontus Jansson celebrated his 28th birthday with the opening goal at Elland Road and eased the early nerves at Elland Road. When Ezgjan Alioski's 12th minute shot was blocked he was on hand to fire into the bottom corner from 12 yards. Left back Alioski who started the season as a winger but has made this position his own recently was also the provider for Leeds second goal. His shot was parried by Swansea keeper Erwin Mulder on 34 minutes and Jack Harrison was on handed to head the rebound home.

It was a totally dominant showing from Biels's men with Swansea relying on David James who nearly joined Leeds in the January transfer window for an outlet up front. While he was very busy and has a fine turn of pace Leeds fans may not regret signing him on last… Read more

Late Late Show Earns Precious Point

Middlesbrough 1 Leeds United 1

A goal in the 11th minute of injury time gave Leeds a valueable point in their chase for promotion at The Riverside. When Jack Clarke took ill on the sideline the game was held up until he received medical attention and was then taken to hospital for tests. With the two sides drawing 0-0 at Elland Road last August it looked like a similar outcome was going to happen here after a dreadful first half. However two minutes after the break Wing showed excellent skill to place the ball past Kiko Casilla in the Leeds goal.

Kemar Roofe was twice denied by Boro's Irish International goalkeeper Randolph before Jansson glancing header hit the upright and former Boro striker Patrick Bamford skewed the rebound off target. Having totally dominated the possession stakes as has been the way for Leeds all season it looked like once again… Read more

Blown Away By The Canaries

Leeds United 1 Norwich City 3

Once again we have seen that oodles of possession and shots on goal count for nothing if you don't take your chances. Leeds are crying out for an out and out centre forward and with no in comings in the January transfer window we are going to struggle for an automatic place. Norwich City defended brilliantly , hit on the counter attack and produced a superb away performance to beat Leeds United at a packed Elland Road and go back top on goal difference. This was Leed's fourth defeat in their last six league games, all which they dominated on the possession stats but just can't convert the chances given to them. Oh boy we are really crying out for a Chris Woods up front.

Norwich took the lead in the fifth minute when Pontus Jansson gave away a cheap free on the edge of… Read more

Klich On The Double

Rotherham United 1 Leeds United 2

Polish International Mateusz Klich scored twice as Leeds came from behind to beat The Millers. Rotherham took the lead on 28 minutes with a stunning goal from Semi Ajayi. His rocket like shot from outside the box gave ex Real Madrid keeper Kiko Casilla no chance on his debut. Six minutes after the interval Leeds got back level when Klich stabbed home from close range following a mix up in the home defence.

With time running out Leeds got the vital break through on 86 minutes when Klich slotted in Jack Harrison's cross from 12 yards. When news from Carrow Road filtered through that Norwich had drawn with Sheffield United the Leeds fans in the away section of The New York Stadium went into full voice. What had earlier seemed like Leeds were slipping to 2nd in the table given The Canaries were winning had suddenly… Read more

The Wagon Is Beginning To Wobble

Stoke City 2 Leeds United 1

Despite dominating the possession stakes once again Leeds succumbed to their third league defeat in four games. The lack of a Chris Woods type player up front could come back to haunt Leeds before the end of the season as they look toothless in the final third. After a goalless first half Clucas pounced on a weak Leeds clearance to fire The Potterers ahead on 49 minutes. The sending off of Pontus Jannson on 76 minutes for a second bookable offence sealed Leeds faith and completed a miserable week for Bielsa following on from the Spygate incident at Derby County's training ground.

Joe Allen scored on 88 minutes to seal the points for Stoke while Ezgjan Alioski's scored a stoppage-time consolation for United. Whether United's players have been affected by the ongoing controversy surrounding their manager only time will tell but they were… Read more

Spygate Inspires Brillant Display From Leeds

Leeds United 2 Derby County 0

With Marcelo Bielsa holding up his hand and taking responsibility for sending one of his back room staff to spy on Derby County while they were training on Thursday afternoon, this Sky Sports televised game took on a new dimension. Derby County manager Frank Lampard described Marcelo Bielsa's pre-match conduct as "unethical" but did accept his apology. Bielsa said that this was quite usual in his home country of Argentina but accepts it's not the done thing in England.

However on the field Leeds gave a commanding performance ,had a penalty decision reversed after thirty seconds on a bad linesman call and held Derby to not having a shot on target for the entire game. Kemar Roofe's near-post flick on twenty minutes following a great cross from 18 year old Jack Clarke gave United a deserved lead. Two minutes after the break Jack Harrison tap-in after… Read more

Defensive Blunders Prove Costly

Nottingham Forest 4 Leeds United 2

Another disastrous day in defence for Leeds coupled with a deserved sending off for Kelvin Phillips three minutes from half time send Bielsa's men crashing to a New Year's Day defeat. Luckily for the Whites, Norwich were held to a draw and with WBA losing Leeds still sit on top of The Championship despite two consecutive defeats and the concession of six goals. It's plain to see that we need Berardi and Cooper by in defence and let Phillips back to midfield. However in the January transfer window a new keeper is a must as Bradley-Peacock has been committing too many errors and it's time for a change.

Nottingham Forest scored three goals in seven unbelievable second-half minutes as they came from behind to beat 10-man Leeds United. Forest took an early lead when Jack Colback chased down a lost cause and capitalised on a… Read more

The Tigers Roar To Win Over Tired Leeds

Leeds United 0 Hull City 2

Bielsa's boys were brought crashing down to earth when a resurgent Hull City completed a smash and grab at Elland Road. Leeds looked a tired outfit and sunk to their fourth defeat of the season. Luckily results went their way with Norwich also losing at home to Derby County and WBA being held by Sheffield Wednesday.

Leeds January transfer target Jarrod Bowen pounced on some poor defending in the box on 25 minutes and to put The Tigers ahead. His second came on 59 minutes after Bailey -Peacock parried a Jon Toral shot and he reacted quickest to the rebound and billowed the net. This quietened the huge Leeds crowd and try as they might they could not make a breakthrough to start another revival.

Luke Ayling and Tyler Roberts both had efforts cleared off the line and Kemar Roofe was also denied as Hull… Read more

Late Drama Not Good For The Heart

Leeds United 3 Blackburn Rovers 2

Write Leeds off at your pearl after an unbelievable comeback from the jaws of defeat at Elland Road. When ex Celtic star Charlie Mulgrew struck a free kick on the 90th minute, his second set piece of the game to give Blackburn the lead the game looked up for the home side. However this teams never say die attitude say them did deep with Kemar Roofe hitting a 91st minute equaliser to send the home crowd into raptures. Raya, the Rovers keeper had made a super double save but when the ball popped out to Roofe six yard out he made no mistake.

However thing were to get even better when on 94 minutes Roofe headed the winner having also scored Leeds's 95th-minute winner at Aston Villa four days previously. Rovers had taken the lead two minutes after half time when Ayling took down… Read more

Thriller At Villa

Aston Villa 2 Leeds United 3

What a game, what and ending and top of the table for Christmas. Every Leeds fan can now dare to dream of a return to The Premiership. Yes we are only half way through the season but this team has shown resilience, heart and some skill to give us reasons to be optimistic for the coming months.

After a disastrous opening twenty minutes where Villa raced into a 2-0 lead it looked like Leeds were on the way to another drubbing in the Midlands. Tammy Abraham put Villa ahead on five minutes with a close-range finish set up by John McGinn. On seventeen minutes Irish International Conor Hourihane curled in a beautiful left foot shot into the bottom corner of Peacock-Farrell's net.

However Leeds didn't lie down and on fifty six minutes second half substitute struck Jack Clarke hit a stunning right-foot curler for… Read more

Finally A Penalty For Leeds

Leeds United 2 Queens Park Rangers 1

Kemar Roofe's scored his 10th goal of the season on fifty three minutes after Leeds were awarded a penalty for the first time in 59 games, a run stretching back to October 2017. Leeds dominated the first half and should have been at least two goals to the good but instead found themselves a goal down. Nahki Wells put The R's ahead on twenty six minutes when he nicked the ball past Pontus Jansson and scored with a left-foot shot.

In the third minute of injury time in the first half Roofe scored from close range to lift the muted home crowd. Eight minutes in the second half Toni Leistner was penalised for handball in the area and Roofe converted the spot kick. Finally A Win A Bramall Lane

Sheffield United 0 Leeds United 1

Leeds gained their first victory at Bramall Lane since 1992 thanks to a defensive error by Blades keeper Dean Henderson. With the game delicately balanced Irish International John Egan over hit his back pass and in trying to keep the ball from going for a corner he hit the ball straight into the path of Leeds Jack Clarke. He squared the ball and Pablo Hernandez had the simplest task of side footing to the net. This victory sent Leeds to the top until Norwich's home victory in the afternoon sent them back to the summit.

This only spurred The Blades on and with time running out ex QPR striker Conor Washington hit the crossbar with an over head kick. Earlier ex Leeds striker Billy Sharp who has haunted The Whites since his transfer headed over a fine chance. Kemar Roofe had Leeds best chance… Read more

The Whites are now up to second, one point behind leaders Norwich City. Northern Ireland International Stuart Dallas tapped home on the hour from close range after Kemar Roofe had been denied by super defending from Liam Moore and Chris Gunter.

With time running out Reading were awarded a penalty when Barry Douglas was penalised for bringing down Josh Sims on the edge of the area. Marc McNulty had his penalty after Bailey Peacock-Farrell dived low to his right to bring off an excellent saved much to the delight of the home crowd.
