Leeds United 1 Reading 0

Another typical Leeds display where we once again dominated possession, Bamford didn't score ( never looked like it either) and we were left biting our nails at the end. Thankfully the much malined Kiko Casilla make a superb save in injury time to deny Liam Moore and The Royals an unlikely equalise

It was Pablo Hernandez 57 minute strike which gave Leeds the points converting after his initial shot was blocked. Reading had frustrated Biels's team until that point playing a very defensive formation and trying to catch Leeds on the counter attack. Victory for Leeds puts them five points ahead of third-place Fulham after they dropped points for the successive game running.

As we keep saying this is a funny old League but to gain automatic promotion Leeds must stay in the top two and see out games. It's hard to watch all the chances… Read more

Leeds United 1 Bristol City 0

Leeds went into the game low on confidence after a run of one win in seven league games. Despite dominating this game for the full ninety minutes the home side had their supporters on the edge of their seats right up to the final whistle. With 68 per cent possession, 20 shots on target and twelve corners to none for Bristol it shows the dominance of The Whites everywhere but on the score board. Unfortunately this is our major problem this season not converting our numerous chances and one wonders if we had bough prolific forward Dwight Gayle from Newcastle United would things be different. Augustin looks way off full fitness and certainly doesn't inspire too much confidence that he's our goal scoring solution.

It was former Robins full-back Luke Ayling who hit a left footed shot from six yards that gave Leeds a… Read more

A massive THANK YOU to our Ennislusc President Noelette Barry and all at Donlons Supermareket , Tulla for their kindness in donating the beautiful hamper for our recent Christmas club raffle. This didn't happen by accident an was an idea that Noelette broached with Club Secretary Mike Jones while over at Elland Road for the Derby game to help garnish much needed club funds. She also mooted the idea of new club gear which Mike took on board and ran with same.

The raffle was a tremendous success with 609E secured to build up club funds and Moroney's regular Frankie Gilligan Cloughleigh was the luck winner. It's now hoped the raffle could become a yearly fund raiser for the club and sincere thanks to Noelette for her brilliant idea. There has been a huge uptake on the new club gear so much so that Mike Jones has gone back to… Read more

Nottingham Forest 2 Leeds United 0

Since beating Hull on 10th December last to win their seventh consecutive Championship game Leeds have won only once since. They have failed to score in three of their last league games while in the previous 26 the failed to score on only three occasions. They have also failed to keep a clean sheet in their last ten league games while in the previous ten they had seven clean sheets and only conceded three goals. It's easy to see where the problem lies with a dodgy keeper along with a defence in shambles and a centre forward that can't find the net even with a plethora of chances. Also blame must be laid at Biels's door as he's too loyal to some of the players and extremely slow to make changes.

This was billed as a defining game in The Championship and Nottingham Forest edging… Read more

Leeds United 0 Wigan 1

Leeds started the day top of the table and ended it in defeat against a team that has only won two away games in their last 38 games in all competitions and one of those was against Leeds at Elland Road last season. Another toothless performance up front from the Leeds forwards along with a calamitous goalkeeping error. It's worth recalling that we were one up last April against ten man Wigan and the wheels came off the wagon just like yesterday and it had a serious effect on our automatic prospects. Unfortunately it was deja vu all over again and how this will effect our season going forward is anyone's guess.

The Lactics went ahead totally against the run of play on 59 minutes when Joe Williams corner deflected off the unlucky Pablo Hernandez and dipped under the crossbar past keeper Kiko Casilla who… Read more

Leeds United 3 Millwall 2

I was hard to credit the Leeds were two down at half time after conceding once again from two set pieces. The first coming after just four minutes when Hutchinson rose unopposed at the back post to head The Lions into an unlikely lead. Worse was to come for the home side when on 23 minutes the Leeds players thought Woods had run the ball out of play but no whistle was forthcoming and Alioski fouled Icelandic striker Bodvarsson for a stone wall penalty. Shock horror for Bielsa and the fans but to their credit the Leeds players never dropped their heads and dominated proceedings until the end of the half.

On the resumption what a transformation with Leeds giving one of their finest 45 minute performance in many years. Three minutes in the much maligned Patrick Bamford tapped home a rebound after the keeper… Read more

It's hard to believe that nineteen years have passed since Ennislusc was founded in Fafa Considine's Bar in Parnell Street, Ennis which at the time was run by Paul ( Nuggy) Nihill. It was a conversation he had with Sean ( Bombs ) McCarthy that set the ball rolling and in conjunction with Cyril ( Slim) Corry, Johnny Moroney and the late Mick McNamara that Ennislusc came to be. At the time it was never dreamed that the club would grow to present day numbers and even when the club was relegated to the first divisions our numbers never waned.

Once a Leeds fan always a Leeds fan and we are now the envy of many fan clubs across the country. Thanks to Paul Nihill who has done trojan work for the club since it's inception we are highly regarded of at Elland Road and never fail to get tickets… Read more

It's bad enough that my wife Marian is an avid QPR supporter going over to at least three games every season but even she admitted that the better team lost. Unfortunately I told her for the want of repeating myself after every Leeds game, possession doesn't win games and unless we spend money on a goal scoring forward we can forget about promotion. I do appreciate that there was a huge stroke of luck with The R's winner as Nahki Wells handled the ball not once but twice before scoring.

However Leeds should have been out of sight before that but if you can take your chances you are going no where even when they are put on a plate for you. Bielsa's side also saw Patrick Bamford's second-half penalty saved and in truth he never looked confident taking it. He's not scoring from… Read more

Leeds United 0 Sheffield Wednesday 2

Since beating Hull on 10th December promotion chasing Leeds have won only one of their last six games and fans are beginning to worry are the wheels coming off the wagon aka last season. It's early days yet but it certainly is a concern as the glaring problem has not been resolved and that is a goal scoring centre forward. We are dominating games in the possession stakes in every game but you have to convert your chances and dear I saw Bamford is not that forward who will shoot the lights out.

It was two late goals that gave Gary Monk's Owels a dramatic victory and gave our Yorkshire rivals an unlikely victory. The game had looked set to end goalless but Jacob Murphy beat home goalkeeper Kiko Casilla at his near post from a tight angle. This was a terrible error from… Read more

FA Cup 3rd Rd: Arsenal 1 Leeds United 0

What a magnificent sight it was to see 8,000 travelling Leeds fans at the Emirates Stadium as they sang their heart out and cheered their team on from the first to the last minute. There is no doubt that Leeds would be a serious addition to The Premiership with their fantastic supporters and refreshing brand of football. Leeds dominated the first half with Patrick Bamford hitting the bar with one of United's 15 first-half efforts but alas when you are on top you got to score.

This has been Leeds failing this season, dominating possession but lacking a Chris Woods type 20 goal a season centre forward. Bamford for all his skill is not that man but he's a Bielsa favourite and unfortunately we haven't a back up oftion at present.

Arsenal were excellent in the second half and Reiss Nelson scrambled… Read more

West Bromwich Albion 1 Leeds United 1

This was billed as the game of the day in The Championship and after a sluggish start by Leeds they did enough in the second half to earn a deserved point. It was a tale of two ends for The Baggies defender who became a hero and villain over the ninety plus minutes. He scored at both ends which kept Leeds above Albion on goal difference and left both sides nine points clear of third-placed Brentford.

Albion got the dream start when after two minutes Ajayi poked in after a goalmouth scramble. However it was his 52 minute og which will give him nightmares. In truth there was little he could do as it was an unfortunate deflection from a Patrick Bamford header which gave Baggies goalkeeper Sam Johnstone no chance. Leeds had goalkeeper Kiko Casilla to thank for keeping the score at 1-0… Read more

Birmingham City 4 Leeds United 5

Leeds won an unbelieveable nine-goal thriller at St Andrew's to go back top of the Championship after The Baggies were beaten by Middlesbrough. Three times Birmingham came from behind to level before Wes Harding's injury-time own goal secured three valueable points for Bielsa's men. Leeds who up to the start of December had one of the best defensive records in all of Europe's top league have now started to conceded at an alarming rate.

Leeds were two up after twenty two minutes through Helder Costa and Jack Harrison but 16-year-old Jude Bellingham scored with his first goal in over three months to reduce the arrears at half-time and astonishingly Lukas Jutkiewicz levelled on 61 minutes. Full back Luke Ayling put Leeds back in front on 69 minutes but on 83 minutes Jeremie Bela equalised for The Blues. One minute late Northern Ireland international Stuart… Read more

Leeds United 3 Cardiff City 3

The game looked done and dusted on the hour mark with Leeds in cruise control and 3-0 to the good. Then Casilla got caught in no man lands for a cross and Lee Tomlin chipped into the net to give The Bluebirds a lifeline. Considering Leeds had only conceded ten goals in the league all season one need not worry but Leeds supporters are well used to surprises. Cardiff have the Indian sign over Leeds and so it proved again today. Indeed their new manager Neil Harris was in charge of Millwall earlier in the season when they defeated Bielsa's men after Bertadi was wrongly sent off and a penalty award against him. Leeds were three up on the hour through Helder Costa and two by Patrick Bamford including a penalty. They had played some of the best football since Bielsa arrived but then… Read more

Leeds United 2 Hull City 0

Leeds United moved back to the top of the Championship in front of a crowd of 35,200 as they edge past The Tigers with a seventh straight league victory. Helder Costa had a goal was ruled out for offside and then the home side got an early Christmas present. Costa's cross t was diverted into his own net by Jordy de Wijs on 73 minutes to ease the nerves of the home supporters.

Then came a super goal from a Leeds counter attack. Goalkeeper Kiko Casilla stopped Tom Eaves heaer and Patrick Bamford cleared the ball from going over the line. Leeds countered from the clearance and substitute Ezgjan Alioski finishing from a tight angle after Patrick Bamford hit the post.It was an unbelievable goal given the fact Hull should have scored but for a miracle save from Casilla. He's an erratic keeper but today… Read more

Huddersfield Town 0 Leeds United 2

In a hard fought Yorkshire derby Leeds emerged victorious against a very determined home side. Second-half goals from Ezgjan Alioski and Pablo Hernandez gave them victory The Terriers and was Leeds sixth win in a row. Alioski opened the scoring on fifty minutes with a stunning volley from outside the box that surely will be a contender for goal of the month on TV.

Leeds insured the points on 78 minutes when Hernandez headed home a peach of a cross from Jack Harrison. Bielsa's side were certainly not at their best but it's a huge three points in the chase for promotion.

Our founding member and former Ennislusc President Cyril ( Slim) Corry has just returned home following surgery in the Galway Clinic this week. It came as a shock to his many friends that Cyril had been in hospital and thankfully the surgery went well. It will however necessitate Cyril taking things easy for the next few weeks and I'm sure today's result which sees his beloved Leeds back on top of The Championship will have cheered him up no end. All Cyril's friends at Ennislusc and Moroney's Bar wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back to full health shortly.

Leeds United 4 Middlesbrough 0

Middlesbrough boss and ex Leeds United great Jonathan Woodgate wasn't a happy camper leaving Elland Road after his side got a lesson from the high flying home side. In full of a packed house which included a group of Ennislusc Supporters they gave their best display of the season with some scintillating attacking football. Ex Boro favourite Patrick Bamford headed Leeds in front on three minutes to easy the nerves after keeper Aynsley Pears had kept out his initial attempt. Polish International Mateusz Klich made it 2-0 to Leeds in the third minute of first half injury time as his shot took a wicked deflection to give Pears no chance in the Boro goal.

Wolves loanee Helder Costa hit a cracking shot from the edge of the area on 67 minutes to pile further misery on Boro and Klich got his second and Leeds fourth on… Read more

Reading 0 Leeds United 1

With three minutes remaining on loan Manchester City star Jack Harrison sprinted the length of the field as Leeds counter attached following a great save by Kiko Casilla and soared high at the back post to power a Helder Costa cross to the net. It was an unbelievable end to a game that Leeds looked like dropping points in but instead went back to the top of The Championship at least for a day until The Baggies played their game in hand.

Leeds broke from a Reading free-kick and Ezgjan Alioski found Helder Costa on the right wing and his deflected cross evaded The Royals defenders to allowed Harrison head powerfully home.Leeds as usual dominated possession but created few clear-cut chances. Patrick Bamford chested over when he should have scored and Stuart Dallas struck the crossbar on 63 minutes.

Luton Town 1 Leeds United 2

Leeds had to wait until the death to defeat a stubborn Hatters team who looked like holding on for a good point. Patrick Bamford after scoring his first goal in ten games against Blackburn Rovers followed it up with a 51st minute opoener for the visitors. He scored with a left footed strike following a through ball by Man Of The Match Ben White. How Leeds would loved to hold on to this Brighton & Hove Albion defender beyond this season but on his form to date this season it's easy to see why Man United are hot on his trail.

However three minutes later ex West Ham defender James Collins powered a header home at the back post following a cross by ex Leeds loanee Izzy Brown. Thereafter Luton had a goal chalked off for offside and then Leeds hit with a sucker punch.… Read more
