With Kiko Casilla suspended for eight games after being found guilty of racist comments Leeds Head coach Marcelo Bielsa handed a first league start to 19-year-old Illan Meslier. He had fortunately an easy nights work as Leeds kept a fourth clean sheet in a dominant display against The Tigers.

Leeds got the dream start on five minutes when Luke Ayling's 20-yard strike took a wicked deflection off Callum Elder and spun into the corner of the net. This was the confident start Leeds required and it had the away fans in full voice. Leeds United goalkeeper Kiko Casilla has been banned for eight matches and fined £60,000 after being found guilty of racially abusing Charlton Athletic forward Jonathan Leko. The investigation began back in October and the game in question was played on 28th September at The Valley Grounds where Leeds slumped to a 1-0 defeat. Under rules introduced for the 2019-20 season, the minimum suspension for a player found guilty of an aggravated breach of the FA's discrimination rules is six matches, which can be increased depending on any additional aggravating factors.

The charge was found proven by an independent regulatory commission. This treat of suspension has been hanging over Casilla and the club for months and now as Leeds hit the final run in to the season their first choice keeper is unavailable. Another typical Leeds display where we once again dominated possession, Bamford didn't score ( never looked like it either) and we were left biting our nails at the end. Thankfully the much malined Kiko Casilla make a superb save in injury time to deny Liam Moore and The Royals an unlikely equalise

It was Pablo Hernandez 57 minute strike which gave Leeds the points converting after his initial shot was blocked. Reading had frustrated Biels's team until that point playing a very defensive formation and trying to catch Leeds on the counter attack. Victory for Leeds puts them five points ahead of third-place Fulham after they dropped points for the successive game running.

Leeds went into the game low on confidence after a run of one win in seven league games. Despite dominating this game for the full ninety minutes the home side had their supporters on the edge of their seats right up to the final whistle. With 68 per cent possession, 20 shots on target and twelve corners to none for Bristol it shows the dominance of The Whites everywhere but on the score board. Unfortunately this is our major problem this season not converting our numerous chances and one wonders if we had bough prolific forward Dwight Gayle from Newcastle United would things be different. Augustin looks way off full fitness and certainly doesn't inspire too much confidence that he's our goal scoring solution.

This didn't happen by accident an was an idea that Noelette broached with Club Secretary Mike Jones while over at Elland Road for the Derby game to help garnish much needed club funds. She also mooted the idea of new club gear which Mike took on board and ran with same.

The raffle was a tremendous success with 609E secured to build up club funds and Moroney's regular Frankie Gilligan Cloughleigh was the luck winner. Since beating Hull on 10th December last to win their seventh consecutive Championship game Leeds have won only once since. They have failed to score in three of their last league games while in the previous 26 the failed to score on only three occasions. They have also failed to keep a clean sheet in their last ten league games while in the previous ten they had seven clean sheets and only conceded three goals. It's easy to see where the problem lies with a dodgy keeper along with a defence in shambles and a centre forward that can't find the net even with a plethora of chances. Also blame must be laid at Biels's door as he's too loyal to some of the players and extremely slow to make changes.

Leeds started the day top of the table and ended it in defeat against a team that has only won two away games in their last 38 games in all competitions and one of those was against Leeds at Elland Road last season. Another toothless performance up front from the Leeds forwards along with a calamitous goalkeeping error. It's worth recalling that we were one up last April against ten man Wigan and the wheels came off the wagon just like yesterday and it had a serious effect on our automatic prospects. Unfortunately it was deja vu all over again and how this will effect our season going forward is anyone's guess.

I was hard to credit the Leeds were two down at half time after conceding once again from two set pieces. The first coming after just four minutes when Hutchinson rose unopposed at the back post to head The Lions into an unlikely lead. Worse was to come for the home side when on 23 minutes the Leeds players thought Woods had run the ball out of play but no whistle was forthcoming and Alioski fouled Icelandic striker Bodvarsson for a stone wall penalty. Shock horror for Bielsa and the fans but to their credit the Leeds players never dropped their heads and dominated proceedings until the end of the half.

It's hard to believe that nineteen years have passed since Ennislusc was founded in Fafa Considine's Bar in Parnell Street, Ennis which at the time was run by Paul ( Nuggy) Nihill. It was a conversation he had with Sean ( Bombs ) McCarthy that set the ball rolling and in conjunction with Cyril ( Slim) Corry, Johnny Moroney and the late Mick McNamara that Ennislusc came to be. At the time it was never dreamed that the club would grow to present day numbers and even when the club was relegated to the first divisions our numbers never waned.

It's bad enough that my wife Marian is an avid QPR supporter going over to at least three games every season but even she admitted that the better team lost. Unfortunately I told her for the want of repeating myself after every Leeds game, possession doesn't win games and unless we spend money on a goal scoring forward we can forget about promotion. I do appreciate that there was a huge stroke of luck with The R's winner as Nahki Wells handled the ball not once but twice before scoring.

Since beating Hull on 10th December promotion chasing Leeds have won only one of their last six games and fans are beginning to worry are the wheels coming off the wagon aka last season. It's early days yet but it certainly is a concern as the glaring problem has not been resolved and that is a goal scoring centre forward. We are dominating games in the possession stakes in every game but you have to convert your chances and dear I saw Bamford is not that forward who will shoot the lights out.

What a magnificent sight it was to see 8,000 travelling Leeds fans at the Emirates Stadium as they sang their heart out and cheered their team on from the first to the last minute. There is no doubt that Leeds would be a serious addition to The Premiership with their fantastic supporters and refreshing brand of football. Leeds dominated the first half with Patrick Bamford hitting the bar with one of United's 15 first-half efforts but alas when you are on top you got to score.

This has been Leeds failing this season, dominating possession but lacking a Chris Woods type 20 goal a season centre forward. Bamford for all his skill is not that man but he's a Bielsa favourite and unfortunately we haven't a back up oftion at present.

This was billed as the game of the day in The Championship and after a sluggish start by Leeds they did enough in the second half to earn a deserved point. It was a tale of two ends for The Baggies defender who became a hero and villain over the ninety plus minutes. He scored at both ends which kept Leeds above Albion on goal difference and left both sides nine points clear of third-placed Brentford.

Albion got the dream start when after two minutes Ajayi poked in after a goalmouth scramble. However it was his 52 minute og which will give him nightmares. In truth there was little he could do as it was an unfortunate deflection from a Patrick Bamford header which gave Baggies goalkeeper Sam Johnstone no chance. Leeds won an unbelieveable nine-goal thriller at St Andrew's to go back top of the Championship after The Baggies were beaten by Middlesbrough. Three times Birmingham came from behind to level before Wes Harding's injury-time own goal secured three valueable points for Bielsa's men. Leeds who up to the start of December had one of the best defensive records in all of Europe's top league have now started to conceded at an alarming rate.

Leeds were two up after twenty two minutes through Helder Costa and Jack Harrison but 16-year-old Jude Bellingham scored with his first goal in over three months to reduce the arrears at half-time and astonishingly Lukas Jutkiewicz levelled on 61 minutes. The game looked done and dusted on the hour mark with Leeds in cruise control and 3-0 to the good. Then Casilla got caught in no man lands for a cross and Lee Tomlin chipped into the net to give The Bluebirds a lifeline. Considering Leeds had only conceded ten goals in the league all season one need not worry but Leeds supporters are well used to surprises. Cardiff have the Indian sign over Leeds and so it proved again today. Indeed their new manager Neil Harris was in charge of Millwall earlier in the season when they defeated Bielsa's men after Bertadi was wrongly sent off and a penalty award against him. Leeds United moved back to the top of the Championship in front of a crowd of 35,200 as they edge past The Tigers with a seventh straight league victory. Helder Costa had a goal was ruled out for offside and then the home side got an early Christmas present. Costa's cross t was diverted into his own net by Jordy de Wijs on 73 minutes to ease the nerves of the home supporters.

Then came a super goal from a Leeds counter attack. Goalkeeper Kiko Casilla stopped Tom Eaves heaer and Patrick Bamford cleared the ball from going over the line. In a hard fought Yorkshire derby Leeds emerged victorious against a very determined home side. Second-half goals from Ezgjan Alioski and Pablo Hernandez gave them victory The Terriers and was Leeds sixth win in a row. Alioski opened the scoring on fifty minutes with a stunning volley from outside the box that surely will be a contender for goal of the month on TV.

Leeds insured the points on 78 minutes when Hernandez headed home a peach of a cross from Jack Harrison. Bielsa's side were certainly not at their best but it's a huge three points in the chase for promotion.

Our founding member and former Ennislusc President Cyril ( Slim) Corry has just returned home following surgery in the Galway Clinic this week. It came as a shock to his many friends that Cyril had been in hospital and thankfully the surgery went well. It will however necessitate Cyril taking things easy for the next few weeks and I'm sure today's result which sees his beloved Leeds back on top of The Championship will have cheered him up no end. All Cyril's friends at Ennislusc and Moroney's Bar wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back to full health shortly.

Middlesbrough boss and ex Leeds United great Jonathan Woodgate wasn't a happy camper leaving Elland Road after his side got a lesson from the high flying home side. In full of a packed house which included a group of Ennislusc Supporters they gave their best display of the season with some scintillating attacking football. Ex Boro favourite Patrick Bamford headed Leeds in front on three minutes to easy the nerves after keeper Aynsley Pears had kept out his initial attempt. Polish International Mateusz Klich made it 2-0 to Leeds in the third minute of first half injury time as his shot took a wicked deflection to give Pears no chance in the Boro goal.
