Toffees Survive Second Half Onslaught

Leeds were playing at home for only the second time in seven matches and were doing so on a newly-installed pitch which they had been bought for £300,000 from Tottenham. After digging up the previous pitch which had come in for much criticism it was hoped that the better surface would facilitate Leeds brand of football but once again their achilles heel in defending came back to haunt them. Leeds had only conceded six goals in their past six league games and boss Marcelo Bielsa will be seething with the poor defending particularly the second goal which once again came from a corner kick. Leeds have conceded 17 goals via set-pieces in the Premier League this season (including penalties), the most of any side.
