Witnessed a thriller at the weekend kevin Greene and myself made the pilgrimage to elland road in honour of kev,s 50th birthday. A Great match entertainment wise anyhow. However certain frailties at the back and been easily over-ran in midfield were exposed and we were 2-0 down. It looked ominious, Blackburn premership quality players their directness and pace had us in trouble.....something we will have to address. however a Diouf goal before half time gave hope. Blackburn retreated into their shell allowing leeds to up the ante, putting deep crosses in the box, Blackburn were now in trouble , leeds getting 3 second half goals , sadly the last one was disallowed. This was crucial, as the ref who was awful to both sides , saw some problem with the last goal, and ultimately leeds would pay at the other end it what appeared a free on Tom Lees was given to Blacburn from which the won a corner and got a cheeky backheeled equaliser. The game a was anything but dull. At the end you felt we let it slip but after 40 mins, it might have been blackburn 4 or 5 in front. We have improved on last season no question, however we need a creative type midfielder alongside the excellent workhorse austin, also astriker with pace and guile up alongside Becchio, Diouf was best and had an excellent match when withdrawn into a more floating role from the midfield up.Defending is not his strenght, as peltier was out of position for the first goal and Diouf's lack of pace and fitness was cruelly exposed. The team showed great spirit to come from 2-0 down, something that would not happen last season. We are not the finished article, to get a couple more quality players in key positions is vital, if we are to start believing. The sooner the ownership issue is sorted the better. Its going to be an epic struggle for all teams in this division to be in the top 6, anyone can turn over each other, exciting battles ahead

I agree nuggy , same old story , dcifferent season. I also agree with johnny's assessment that a top six finish would be realistic. We signed players in the summer, but good rather than excellent would sum up the seven or eight recruits, solid pros, kenny, Drury and some from the Portsmouth fire sale Norris , Varney and Pearce. What is evident same as last season is it will be a fiercely competitive league, every point vital. We may not have the quality for the top two spots, still early days. We have to keep scrapping for as many away points as possible...peterboro next. We will have a fighting chance with these new players if we win our home games. Our record there last year was abysmal. A pattern will develop over the next few weeks. Its a marathon, we could have those fingernails well chewed by next May.

So, there you have it. Not very resilient at all seems to be the answer. Same shit different season eh !!!

Well boys ! A big test of our new found "resilience" tonight. Let's hope for another 3 points to really make a statement of intent....

Was guest of Kevin G at Moroney's Bar last Saturday. I was down from Dublin for the surprise 50th party he knew nothing about ! We got a good few drinks into him before bringing him home to his party. It was great to be part of "the gang" on Saturday in the Bar and to be present for an AGM - Paul is a great speaker and knows how to get a committee elected ! Many thanks to Johnny for the gift bestowed on me - a beanie hat ! Thanks also to Spinky for giving me his mug. A great win and a great day in Moroney's ! And top marks for the Guinness too - as smooth as a baby's bottom ! Thanks Lads.

Hi lads the Marian Avenue Cup final between Leeds United Suppeorters and Chelsea supporters is being played in the fairgreen on Sat 15th Sept. (Time TBC). We are the current holders of the Cup and it would be great to be able to retain it. I'm looking for your support on this as it is a Charity match in aid of Ennis Youth Service and Ennis Voices of Autism (EVA). I need to get a few lads together to represent the Leeds United Supporters Team. The teams are going to be made up of over 30s/40s. Each player will be asked to get sponsorship via selling lines. If you are available and interested in playing can you please text me on 0857443805 and i can arrange to get the sponsorship card to you. There is a BBQ, Music and Cup presentation in Mickey Kerins later that night - this is usually a great night out. Anyone that can't play I would really appreciate it if you wouldn't mind sponsoring this great cause, there will be sponsorship cards behind the bar in Moroneys if you want to buy a line the next time you're in enjoying a pint. to view the poster for the event check out the Ennis Leeds United facebook page.
