Larry is now favorite for the sack! Article from "The Scratching Shed" Football management is a fickle business. Regardless of how well any manager has done in the past, a few bad results can change the mood rapidly. Despite guiding Leeds United to promotion in 2010 and finishing just outside the Championship play-off positions in 2011, Simon Grayson is now the bookies favourite to be the next Championship sacking after picking up only four points from the opening five games. Leeds United fans will point to three red cards as reason for our poor start, but a poor transfer window leaving the club lacking in depth and the loss of star player Max Gradel means Simon Grayson is facing an uphill battle to turn things around. Factor in Ken Bates, a chairman who has never been afraid to sack an under-performing manager and you can understand why the bookies are shortening the odds. At the time of posting Simon Grayson is 2/1 with Sky Bet, which is by no means an odds on certainty, but his odds are significantly shorter than anyone else in the division. Steve Under My Umbrella McLaren of Nottingham Forest is next up at 4/1 followed by Coventry Citys Andy Thorn at 11/2. Whilst I personally think Simon Grayson has been unlucky so far and should be safe, the high level of expectation always present at Elland Road makes the odds understandable a couple more defeats and pressure will mount for the previously untouchable Leeds boss. 2011, The Scratching Shed. More bull from Ken Bates,he reckons we got a bad deal for Max Gradel ! 17.5% of the transfer go's to Leicester and 5% go's to The Football League,we only got 1.75m for him. It's ok though he say's the money go's into Grayson's transfer pot! That's when they find it cause it must be missing for the whole of the transfer window. We'll get in a few crap players and has been's on loan though and even worse is we could'nt get rid of Billy "Barndoor". It sicken's me when Leicester can spend 3m on Beckford and offer 6.5 + 9m for Jelavic. It's going to be a long hard season(hopefully i'm wrong). Still Leeds U til i die though,no matter how hard it is sometimes :-) MOT

I agree with all the lads, this particular sale is hard to stomach.for the previous nine years we have accepted all the sales of our best players because of the financial problems.Since we came out of administration we have sold the likes of delph,in fairness that was great money.we have accepted the departures of beckford and johnson fair enough,i think the first departure that made me wonder and question whats going on was schmeichel. Now coupled with the gradel sale our transfer policy must seriously be questioned. Its bad when we cant compete with the likes of ipswich and bristol city when it comes to wages!Mister bates would want to reconsider his transfer policy or the chilling prospect of ennis lusc going over to see leeds versus crawley town in league one could become a harsh reality!!On a lighter note the cup draws have really looked after us in the last three seasons and yet another of the big boys lie in wait.I would encourage all ennis lusc members to come to faffas on tuesday night september 20 decked out in their leeds colours and show everybody that despite the seemingly never ending hardships us leeds fans have to endure, that the leeds fans base in clare is stil as strong as ever!MOT

Old Kenuchi Batesoshi proverb..... "Never waste life watching Sky Sports Deadline Day til 11pm, when Emergency loan day around corner." You'd think we'd have learned by now not to be expecting anything except outs....ah well. We'll have to accept giantkilling to keep us interested. Nugs

Yeah it's fair disappointing to see no new faces joining and our Player of The Year depart to foreign lands. While as John G says the Man U game is a distraction I also fear we could get a drubbing which won't do our meek defence much for their already poor confidence. Let's hope I'm very much wrong but as has been said before this is going to be a long season with a lot of lows me think ! On another issue I note we'll have our smallest group yet for our trip in November with one group departing on Friday morning and another on Saturday. I had said to Nuggy that I might see would the lads ( Slim, Richie, Dom, Marty, Bryan W and Kevin Barry) be interested in going to dinner at Elland Road on Friday evening but that was quickly knocked on the head. With us arriving in Leeds at 11am on Friday morning the chances of making Howards Restaurant for 8pm would be slim ( excuse the pun) and nil per the Nugs. On mature reflection I guess he's right :-)

I agree with all the boys comments on the sale of max gradel. A truely gifted footballer technically, however worringly, he saw leeds ambitions going forward were purely aspirational, his heart has not been in the leeds project this season, only consolation for us he will be plying his trade in france and not with west ham.As slim said it could be a long season, every point will be hard earned. The carling cup might offer some excitement and distraction

I was going to post something last night but i said i'd wait til i calmed down. I didn't want to many F words on the site. I'm raging with Leeds. Bates will get no one in to replace Max and he's excuse will be that he didn't have time. He waited on purpose and i bet we got peanuts for max. Grayson should grow a pair too and stand up to Ken instead of being his little pup. Mid table mediocracy this year i'd say. MOT

It is now blatantly obvious that we are a selling club.Gradel's departure to St.Etienne surely outlines the extent of our ambitions this year.Mr.Bates does not want us promoted and has no interest in the club or the fans,he wants to make as much money as he can.I know Grayson's hands are tied to an extent, but I watched most of sky sports news yesterday evening in the hope that I might see something coming in,even on loan, but no,just one of our best players sold on again. It's going to be a long year lads, but at least we'll have a good nite out for the cup game.MOT.
